I was watching on RTV, and when they started taking the horses out of the paddock around ten minutes before the off, and the talk was of possible contingency plans, including having to run the race on Monday, I feared the worst that those caring animal rights folk, who were exercising their democratic right to peaceful protest, were going to be the 'winners' on the day.
But not a bit of it, the course was cleared and the race got off at 5.29.

yes ,they handled a difficult situation well it seems ,rare the police get praise from anyone nowadays .
Local scousers deserve a mention given their efforts to foil the lettuce munchers' efforts to sabotage the race.

Ed Chamberlin was doing his best to talk up the racegoers v protestors, but the pictures I was watching didn't show the locals doing anything.
Entering the racecourse illegaĺy is not exercising ones democratic right.

yes ,thought that was strange ,thought the whole idea would be to blend in with the crowd ,not very well thought out .
They like to be noticed that’s the whole point….ffs
simple solution is to let them get on with it and just run the race as normal
The head weirdo was on tv and radio before hand gloating and salivating that they were going to stop the race.
So I would’ve been very annoyed if the police etc had dismissed this.

I remember during lock down they did this in California so the security and staff weren’t expecting it.
Got onto the course down the back stretch and glued and hand cuffed themselves.
Racing had to be abandoned…personally didn’t see why. Could’ve just made everything into 4 / 5 furlong sprints lol ok so you want to glue yourselves here? No worries we’ll start the races from a few yards up.
But my suggestion would be for other tracks to be mindful of possible trouble.
