Hardly a success when their best efforts only delayed the race by 15 minutes. I agree that the people behind it will not rest until all sports involving horses are banned if they get their own way with Aintree. There are many things that I don't enjoy watching but I don't want them banned.

The main objective was mainstream exposure, not stopping the race. I suppose you could call Luck On Sunday the key 'magazine' broadcast for racing enthusiasts, and I think on the day after the biggest race in the sport they devoted the first 45 minutes to the 15 minute delay, and the demands of the nutcases doing it.

Racing has been terrified of the animal welfare lobby for 20 years and it was inevitable (if sad) that Luck on Sunday majored on that rather than the great stories about the first 4 home. I have not watched it yet but will fast forward the pointless welfare debate.

I know nothing at all about Nick Luck apart from what I see on the telly box. He is an excellent presenter most of the time, and tbf a pretty accomplished interviewer. But I sense that part of him sympathises with these types. If I was to place him in a political bracket he was be a in the 'Tory' one nation, eu loving mould. He would fit right in at the bbc.

Do the French experience the same predicament? They eat horse meat, do they not? The UK has had horse meat introduced into their human food chain clandestinely from the EU.

Not just from the EU, Impossible!. Actually though, eating horsemeat would be a great asset to our food chain. It would be a great use of unraceable and redundant bloodstock. This, with venison, rabbit and squirrel, could render us self sufficient in healthy, low fat protein.

Horsemeat is tough, convincing the Brits could even be tougher. I think Brits find eating rabbit distasteful and wicked; chicken kfc is welcome.

Now the freaks have turned up at the snooker. As I was saying, nothing to do with animals. They want to change our entire way of life.

How many horses die on an average day in fields or from riding accidents? Maybe all horse activity should be ended and the species allowed to become extinct.

5 horses died in 11 years in gn, im sure there are yearly jumps races in the calendar where more has died in that time
