Steerforth's post is well worth reading. We have to stand up for the Grand National and cheer it on, because it's a line of defence for horse racing in general. Keep the self-righteous and the ban-hungry protesting over the national, or else they'll move on to the rest of our sport.
It's why we should have defended hunting more loudly, whether we liked it or agreed with it or not. The important thing is not to concede the principle that a thing get banned if someone doesn't like it. (It's also why we should have defended FOBTs, rather than deluded ourselves that horserace gambling is somehow different or worthier. Not to the self-righteous it's not, as we're now discovering.) |

I'm all for justice and fair-play...... You are an articulate and sometimes funny poster, but I think you should go easy on the anti-ethnic stuff....
