WealthTek LLP – Appointment of Interim Managers
WealthTek LLP (trading as WealthTek, Vertem Asset Management and Malloch Melville)

With effect from 4 April 2023, Interim Managers have been appointed over WealthTek Limited Liability Partnership (the ‘LLP’ or ‘WealthTek’), trading as WealthTek, Vertem Asset Management and Malloch Melville, following an application to the High Court on 3 April 2023 by the Financial Conduct Authority (‘FCA’).  Shane Crooks, Mark Shaw and Emma Sayers, licensed insolvency practitioners from BDO LLP, have been appointed as Joint Interim Managers (the ‘Joint Interim Managers’).

The Joint Interim Managers are now responsible for the affairs of the LLP.  In accordance with the order of the Court appointing them, they must protect and preserve (but not distribute) the business and assets of the LLP and any client assets (including client money) in which clients of the LLP are or may be interested.  The Joint Interim Managers will undertake this function pending a hearing of an application by the FCA seeking a Special Administration order in respect of the LLP, which is due to take place on 6 April 2023.

Whilst under the management and control of the Joint Interim Managers, WealthTek will cease all regulated activity save with the consent of the FCA (which consent may be either specific or general).  Further information in respect of the appointment of Joint Interim Managers and what this means for clients and creditors of the LLP, together with some FAQs, can be found at https://www.bdo.co.uk/en-gb/wealthtek.

The Joint Interim Managers will be writing to all clients and creditors of the LLP.  If you have any queries in respect of the appointment of Joint Interim Managers or your claims against the LLP, please contact: WealthTekclients@bdo.co.uk.

The LLP remains regulated by the FCA, albeit certain restrictions are now in place to prevent WealthTek (including under its other trading names) from undertaking any regulated activities. The Joint Interim Managers are working closely with the FCA as they carry out their duties.

On 4 April 2023, the FCA also issued a First Supervisory Notice pursuant to section 55L(3)(a) of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000, requiring the LLP to immediately cease carrying on all regulated activities for which it has a Part 4A permission (other than where it has the express written consent of the FCA).

Under the provisions of paragraph 100(2) of Sch. B1 to the Insolvency Act 1986, as applied pursuant to regulation 15 of the Investment Bank Special Administration Regulations 2011, the Joint Interim Managers carry out their functions jointly and severally and any one or more of the Joint Interim Managers has exclusive power to exercise any function.  The Joint Interim Managers act as agents of the LLP and without personal liability.

It was always a bit of a mystery how a Newcastle stock broker acquired such vast funds.
Sounds like anothee LCF scandal, they also put money in horses.

Clear what's gone on here, invested  other people's money and took profits to build his racing interests. Has paid ridiculous money over the odds for horses at sales and now stock market has dropped he can't pay people their money back. Fed up with these financial wideboys gambling or stealing investors money. Hopefully he will end up with a long sentence and not be allowed to keep all these assets that he clearly didn't buy with his own money!

Like most of these wannabe's they can't resist the limelight and end up overpaying for horses to be part of the crowd at Tattersalls. Telling everyone how lovely the horse is and what a great family it's from. They're mostly clueless and get turned over by the agents who themselves have been seen to be bent as nine bob notes. If this indeed is what has taken place I have no sympathy whatsoever for the consequences.
