I would love to know if Betfair's turnover has dropped since they reduced the minimum stake to £1. I bet for fun and to test my judgement and lose money in about 8 years out of 10. I have reduced my average stake and surprise surprise, I have halved my average loss.

Thanks, interesting. I find a £1 bet for amusement is enough to increase my enjoyment of a race. You can still bet more if you think you have found a diamond.

"yes thay have lost about 60 percent per race , mr black sold hes shares be4 the rules come in2 play"
What is your source for those two statements?
Share price in July 2022 when the min bet £2->£1 change happened was less than £90, now it is more than £140, so I hope Andrew Black did not sell out on that basis...

"Didn't Mr Black sell his shares when Paddy Power (Flutter Entertainment PLC) bought Betfair in 2015?"
That would still be a loser over the period, but given he has many other business interests, if so doubtless he find something useful to do with the money.
@sageform
"It is in Paddy Power's interests to slowly strangle the exchange."
I don't see it. Exchanges are natural monopolies - if PP kill the BF Exch, they will just hand that revenue stream to **** or whoever.

Longbridge - They just want to keep Betfair as is. Don't want to grow but keep it as industry leader otherwise someone might take over and grow the exchange market.

Exchange market has been flat since I joined in 2010, it seems to me.
Seems that the obvious market - pre-play singles punters - just don't get the "value" message and are swayed by freebies and promos.
I completely don't get it, personally.

most horse punters are as thick as sh1t don't understand the first thing about value and if they started to make money consistently would be worried sick anyway.

What are SKY doing with their footie prices are they consistently some of the worst pointless logging in these days not just home or away or draw often all three in comparison to others.

What do you call a decent bet? You can walk into Laddies on the Headrow in Leeds and get £500 on without being questioned, especially during the big meetings, and no dirty looks or banning orders etc should you win.

In theory I have a purple account and I did use it for a while but they made it so difficult to deposit more money from a new card that I just stopped using it. Now I only have Betfair and PP for the odd special offer or when Betfair is down.

No messing around with the WD to be fair to them at all, didnt want or need it quickly but overnight.
Just they want to see source etc which I actually think is fair enough?
What isnt fair enough is the amount of things they asked for, this is no lie they wanted ID, utility bill, 3 months full bank statements, 3 months paypal statements, proof of income.
