The Japanese started buying up stallions 30/40 years ago, whilst the British horseracing institutions were asleep, resting on their laurels.

This is only the beginning of their dominance.

Who is to blame?

A good question, British horse racing was the creme de la creme, for a long long time and rightly so, but standards started to slip, and once that happens, it can lead to a downward spiral, that has cascaded.

A pertinent example, was changing the Epsom Derby from Wednesday to Saturday, one small but significant change. There have been many many examples of the racing authorities overseeing the steady trickle of decline without anything being done.

The pantomime that was the Bryony Frost / Robbie Dunne circus ,being one of the most recent. It should NEVER NEVER have been allowed to transcend into the farce it became.

The ultimate cause of the decline of UK racing must be down to the bookmaking industry, I'm not an expert but it appears to be a huge cause of the problem.

I can only think that the decline of standards in Western Europe in the last two decades especially, in all walks of life, are coming back to bite us.

tbf case the official winning margin does reflect the dominance. He hardly asked the horse and was literally pulling up before the race finished. And for what it's worth, still 'broke the clock'.

Unless there’s a change of heart they’ve decided on the Breeders Cup instead of the Arc.

Worried about the potential ground at Longchamp.
