You've got to wonder if the jockey on Pontresina was just trying to get yours beat. Forcing the one in front to go faster than he wanted and then inevitably slowing to a walk. This is something we often see John Egan do riding a rag on the AW.

it usually rides prominently, why should it change its run style because the fav is upsides?

When did it lead in any of these runs. How many times has it been up with the pace?

prominent/tracked leaders 8 of its last ten runs (according to horseracebase), the rest of the field apart from the fav hold up horses.

So tracked leaders. Not go as fast as it can for as long as it can.
