I think the winner still would have won but the gap is surely inviting a horse to do what  Corbetts did? Why wasn't the wing at an angle with the main running rail?

Thought exactly the same - when I saw that.

Surely the Wing of the Hurdle should be ANGLED to meet the Running Rail ...

Not leave an inviting/confusing (to a horse) horse-width GAP.

Yes Onlooker,it looked too straight on the head on,simple to have avoided that.

This soft of thing keeps happening at the Festival - there was the patch of concrete that Daryl Jacob got dumped on before the Bartlett, and the false rail (ribbon) that the leader jinked into in the Hunter. But this meeting is the ultimate stress test of the course.

Too late now, but yes, an accident waiting to happen.

The experts on the telly were saying that the winner probably had his measure anyway, but I don't know about that, these Irish horses when they meet the rising ground and the 'turbo' kicks in, likely would have found plenty imo.

Would those 'Experts' have come out with that same Platitude - had ...

The Jockey been seriously Injured - or, even worse. Cry

Maybe he could have 'found' up the hill,he would have had the rail, not impossible at all. With softer ground the tendency is to come up that side making what happened more likely,i wonder will they change it for the 5.30?

I've just another look back at it, the eventual winner still looked to have plenty in the tank jumping the last, but Mark Walsh just seemed to be cajoling Corbetts Cross and hadn't asked for everything, probably conscious to keep his whip allowance for after the last.

A dramatically different looking last hurdle, they fooked up.
