Nico clearly isn’t confident riding this haarse there could be a case for putting someone else up on him see if they can be more positive on him.

It seems obvious though that he far prefers quicker ground and when the rain came it was always going to be a struggle.

Needs a McCoy ride on slower ground.

They got £79,500 for finishing second.
The jockey reports that the horse hung left throughout.
Other reports said the horse was cajoled along, or niggled along.

He's become a difficult ride.

The race was slow by 4.31 secs.

I wonder if he's got some underlying physical problem. He hasn't looked interested in the Ryanair 2023, Tingle Creek 22, or Champion Chase 22. He looked good at Ascot, but was that deceptive (beating much inferior horses)? Or did he leave his race there?

Clearly not as good as he was, I think the Ascot race last year when he beat Energumene has has left its mark. Slowly into stride and being on the outside of Fury Road did not help early on but Nico got into a reasonable position after a few fences. Hanging left and not fluent at a few fences, but without the horrendous mistake at 3rd last he might have won as finished best. The horse still has an engine but the hanging is a problem. Not sure the jockey did much wrong except starting so slowly.

Off to Aintree over 3m next in the betfair bowl.

It will certainly add some interest to the race.
