Good on the steering jobs but so is any of them

Great training performance by the winner

Should have won, the silver spoon kid blew it

stewy embarrassing himself again..#WAC

It was not a great ride. He also gave away a place on Walking on Air when beaten for a gap going to the last. Agree about the winner, I am getting very hopeful of A Plus Tard now.

horse was travelling as well as any..got in too close to 3 out and made a horrific mistake...
stewys blaming nico...you are an absolute embarrassent man. |
By:
pocket talking of course..if won £800 on winner.
WAC. |

agree nico a bit slow to react at the start but horse never jumped well a lot of crap been said here as per usual.
By:
steve completely gone with his stalking. I hope things get better with his mental health. They usually do if he gets some back up. That aside, he detests winners.

Made a bad blunder 3 out and did well to stay intact but never started riding it until he knew Blackmore was home and hosed

Should have pulled him up after the bad mistake, absolutely no point giving the horse such a hard ride to finish 2nd. Stupid ride.
By:
Nico looked like his bottle had gone, didnt ever ask for a stride at the fences or give him a kick into them. Very strange...

in all truth even when siskin looked unbeatable he usually needed a bit of pushing along early in his races then went on to travel better the further they went, big difference now is whisking jumping is not really top class. (clearly jumping cost it the race today) he wasn't closer up cos he couldn't lay up or horse may just be becoming a bit tricky.al that said with a clear round of jumping he deffo have won

blooming predictive text!! whisking should read shiskin
By:
The slow start was a factor and was nico over racing him to get a position, i dont know but I have not seen Shishkin make that many mistakes in a race.

hard to bully an anonymous typer.

Horse barely went a yard today. But he's been like that in 3 of his last 4 races. Maybe he's no longer right. Or maybe he wants a flattish track (at least not an upsy-downsy one like Cheltenham or Sandown). Maybe he also wants 3 miles - they went off at a good pace there and that seemed to unsettle him.

Could that be its last run at Cheltenham?
3m aintree King George Nothing left at chelts for it |
By:
nico being interviewed said horse never felt right today..without the 3 out blunder would it have won? debatable,possibly..nico done nothing wrong.
By:
i agree he didnt do anything wrong, the trouble was, he didnt do anything right either. Looked as lethargic as the hoss
By:
was still 5/4 before 3 out..some in this fred must have made plenty?

The issue is why a horse who is bred for 3m+ , has ran like he needs 3m plus, has only just been stepped up to 2m 4f when he is 9 years old. No 10 year old has won the gold cup for 30 years and Henderson now taking of stepping him up to 3m. He was finally fit and they have completely missed the opportunity of winning the Gold Cup . Feel sorry for the horse that his programme over the last 3 years has been so pathetically mapped out.
By:
Perhaps, but even at his best he wouldn't have won the Gold Cup today.

Looking at his total book of rides this week, I am not really a fan. Very weak on Walking on Air and got left on Minella Indo. Mind you, apart from CH. Nicky has a very weak hand this season.
By:
Nicky had a disappointing week - Marie's Rock, Jonbon, Shiskin, Luccia all very well beaten.
By:
Time may prove that Jonbon ran to form but he was about the only one apart from CH and perhaps the one that was third in the Martin Pipe.
By:
Nico DB is not a very good jockey. He rides so many shockers. Henderson is blindly loyal and its costing him.
By:
I just think Shishkin did not enjoy being in among horses, that was the biggest chase field he had run against he is used to being prominent against 4-6 runners.
By:
He got £79,500 for coming second.
Whether without the blunder he would have got to the winner is not certain. Is he taking him to Liverpool? He’ll be interesting if he does. |
