Anyone who still doubts that this is the best hurdler for a generation, please say why.

Fantastic
Nico just said, "anyone who backed him to win 10 lengths or more, I apologise"
Well I did, but don't care after what I've seen...
9 lengths, BTW!

no need for them to talk just hope they keep  betting

Anyone here who would do anything but come back every year until he gets beaten? That is certainly what i would do. No need to go further or fences when you have £250k a year for turning up.

Evens to retain his title

Might seem a trivial point but its also great to have a great horse that doesn't have a cumbersome French name.

Name could be better though , what about Chill  ?

hurdles or fences next season?
Report sageform March 14, 2023 4:05 PM GMT
For me hurdles no contest. It takes at least 2 years to get to the Gold Cup. Just keep taking the money doing what he does best. He just beat last years Triumph winner 15 lengths on the bridle.

you seem to be keen on money sagey

9 lengths, sage, see 2nd post, wish it had been 15,could have been 20,imo
Surely they school him over fences at home, then decide
Supreme, Champion, Arkle or RSA, Gold Cup in consecutive years is some achievement
I think they may start the winter novice chasing, can always revert to hurdling
Report Andriy March 14, 2023 4:17 PM GMT
If he jumps well, why not go for the Champion Chase?

What a day, absolutely stunning to watch Honeysuckle.

I'm a flat man but getting close to my fav jumps day  Night Nurse /Monksfield dht.  followed by Red Rum 3rd National.

Reg, I said Triumph hurdle who was Vauban who was 15 lengths behind and it could have been much more.
Report sageform March 14, 2023 4:36 PM GMT
howard I was a small scale owner for 30 years and can see it from that perspective. Mr Alexander got it spot on with Honeysuckle. Mares hurdle, 2 Champion when at her peak and then concede that CH was different class and win another mares. Spot on. We might love to see CH over fences in the Arkle but why would you for a third of the money?
Report Regbutler March 14, 2023 4:50 PM GMT
Sage , apologies, I misread your post
I stand by my earlier posts about going novice chasing next season, but everyone else seems to think it will be Arkle, Queen Mother route if he does
Does nobody think he would get the 3m plus trip?
