Anyone can claim anything, and in today's discourse, they often do.

Sadly that's very true - but that just makes it all the harder to understand why you would be so upset about this one.

Actions count, words do not. At this point, we do know that he has been pulled.

It seems that you do concede that working conditions you've agreed to can supersede the wider law. Consequently this whole suppression of free speech argument is a total nonsense.

So do you believe the BBC should have the right to make people sign contracts that prevent them from expressing their views whatever part of the political spectrum they may come from?

My view:  1 Freedom of speech and Human rights do not exist,they are a mirage. The Government's

behavior during Covid  is proof of that.Rights are inalienable.

2. I've always been annoyed by the amount of time on MOTD being spent on Presenters drawing silly

little circles around players etc. 5 minutes highlights of a match and 10 minutes of totally

un-necessary 'Analysis' Football is not rocket science ffs! Proof of this is that tonight's schedule

for highlights is 20 minutes.

3. What a presenter says on Twitter or whatever 'Social Media ' sites should be no business of their

employers unless it is about them. The next thing that employers will be expecting is for presenters

to post 'positive' items about their employers on social media!

Saddest aspect about this is there are actually people who actual care about pundits. Surely it's the product that counts? It isn't a difficult game, just make up your own mind up for free, rather than paying someone 1.4 million a year to do it for you. Money for old rope springs to mind.

I don't normally watch Match Of The Day, but did last night. Could have done with a bit of commentary, but it was wall to wall excitement, which is more than you could say for Gary and his pals just having a chat.

Half way through I became aware that the crowd noise was phoney.  Anyone else spot that?  Poor, poor stuff.
The BBC have badly misjudged this in my view.  That was pitiful viewing for a top, core show.  They have made themselves look so bad.
The difference between this rift and the Clarkson one is how Line Ker has garnered so much colleague support.  It will be very interesting to see how it all pans out.

I think the BBC have got it right. Sometimes you have to make a stand. Rules are rules and allowing them to be continually broken undermines the whole system. Personally I don't watch MOD very often at all but my advice would be to SACK THE LOT OF THEM, TODAY. Show some bloody courage and leadership. Start afresh. Make sure the new incumbents are fully aware of their position and that their bosses will not hesitate if they break the rules.

I watched it and I enjoyed it. I know they don't have the rights to show too much of each game but it felt like the editing team were doing their bit to support Gary and Co. with a reduction in the highlights. All it needed was someone doing some voice over work, giving the line ups, injury's and whatnot and then giving each team's position in the league. The editing team, who obviously kiss the arses of Gary and Co couldn't even be bothered to produce a graphic with the lineups and formations. Who the feck do these people think they are? The ego on them! I'm with jinxy, no more talk. Sack the lot of them and install people that would relish the chance of working on and behind the scenes of MOTD

When Racing UK started, they had one person in the voice over booth who you didn't see, one presenter and one pundit on track, who also had to cover an away meeting, with any any other meetings covered by the voice over pundit.

This debacle is hilarious. I think it's noble others walking out in sympathy, but misled. Mr Lineker is only a presenter (not a very good one, may I say); the other two accomplices could be easily replaced. I'd bring in foreigners to commentate until the situation is resolved eg BBC capitulate or Mr Lineker is sacked. And, the foreign counterparts do not even need to be at the stadium.

Is it such a big deal if Mr Lineker, Mr Shearer and Mr Wright refuse to honour their contracts? I do not!

I enjoyed it last night, i watch Big match Rvisited on Sat morns ITV4, one presenter Brian Moore who sometimes did the commentary and an interview in the studio with either managers or players sometimes both and no punches pulled.

I can't remember who it was, but someone yesterday described Lineker as a 'star'. Yes, he was as a footballer, but someone who just talks about football is not a 'star'. It's even worse than calling a newsreader a 'star'. He just performs a function.

Among the stupid provisions of the US Constitution is the "right to free speech" (contained in the first amendment). Up until now it has been widely seen as the worst provision of any constitution of any modern country. It's what allows Trump to say virtually anything he wants. It is regarded as sacrosanct by the majority of Americans (obviously because to critice the Constitution is a bit like regicide). Now I see why the provision might be a good idea (slight joke).

For all those who have given a view as to the contents of GL's contract, can you tell the rest of us how you managed to see it.

I think the TV license works out at 44 pence per day - I saw a Cadburys Cream Egg was 60 pence today and the Racing Post (paper copy) is a fiver.
