The lowest of the low should be ashamed.

On the contrary they did a similar thing with a friend of mine and he went to court and won.  Was Hamilton to win SPOTY in 2014 and he'd backed him in several shops.  IBAS had ruled in Ladbroke's favour.  As my friend just said  the problem with arbitration is you don't get to hear what the other side submits which could be a load of lies or inaccuracies

Report CLYDEBANK29 February 27, 2023 10:38 PM GMT
He's clearly going to win in court if it gets that far.
Report CLYDEBANK29 February 27, 2023 10:47 PM GMT
Ladbrokes never turned up or even reply to the court summons and he was given judgement by default
Report dave1357 February 27, 2023 11:01 PM GMT
presumably that was a small claim?  Not sure if this gents would be that, as it is right on the border. In any case, I was clumsily trying to make the point that they wouldn't like legal arguments to be heard, as apart from an obvious error on behalf of a front line staff member, they would have difficulty showing where the line is crossed between a professional mis-judgement in price setting and an obvious, ie paplpable, error.
Report dave1357 February 27, 2023 11:09 PM GMT
And given that they get odds wrong every day, it would be an unfair contract term, if they and they alone could decide which were palpable errors and which were not.
Report CLYDEBANK29 February 27, 2023 11:12 PM GMT
Yeah small claims limit is £10k.  It was summat like 8 separate bets of £50 at 16/1 and they wanted to pay him at 6/1.

Report stu February 28, 2023 12:12 AM GMT
The idea of palpable error is a great licence to back out of losers for bookies.

There is a basic principle in all betting that prices are 'wrong' or mistaken - so of course it's a possible excuse. Totally ridiculous though in context of modern betting such as an exchange - I'd love to claim a 'palp' on a few bet's I've offered over the years.
Report stu February 28, 2023 12:18 AM GMT
How about a palp is covered by the organisation if they created the error. They have enough limits on wins already in place to soak up any cost for sure.

That might mean they bothered with any costs in training and function of their business efficiency of course. Something they couldn't possibly bother with...

They have inbuilt bias IMO, as I found out the one and only time I put in an appeal with them.
Report Storm Alert February 28, 2023 2:30 PM GMT
Agree Ladcrokes/Coral, despicable behaviour.

IBAS are a waste of time. The ruling in the Voler La Vedette - Betfair, being a typical example, when one considers Betfair didn't follow their own T&C's:

Your betting limit is represented by the lesser of: (i) your 'Available to Bet' balance shown in your account and (ii) your ‘Exposure Limit’ (which is available in the “Account Summary” tab in “My Account”). However in the event that we process an offer for a bet or the acceptance of a bet in an amount outside the applicable thresholds, such bet will nevertheless stand

https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2012/mar/24/betfair-punters-voler-la-vedette

IBAS ruled against me in favour Victor Chandler, who didn't honour a win on a free £25 bet, despite me meeting all the criteria.

He's 150/1 here in the last 64 having just won a tournament.  Worst price 200/1 for the WC.  I mean, seriously, what are Ladbrokes playing at?  They may have meant 100/1, but it's not obvious.  Unless it's clear or at worst reasonably obvious the bookie has to pay up.  And they will, whether it goes to court or not.

Correct Rico . So why not try and put the bet on 10 mins or less prior to the race starting . If i was out and about in town or whatever i  would just put it on using my phone ( on the Betfair App ) a few minutes before the race started .In most cases i would then get round about 11 /2 or maybe even 6/1 for what the bookies profess to be a 4 /1 shot !
