How many of his horses keep it simple, and make the running? Hardly any. I can only assume Smad Place was a complete fluke.

Got closer and raced closer than many others did in that last race.
Ten lengths off the pace, ends up beaten 1/2 length by the two pacesetters. Speaks for itself. It's called an ill judged ride.
I was making a general comment, the trainer seems to think it is a sin to be on the front end. Imagine if he were racing in Ireland he would be laughing stock given virtually all the fancied runners in novice races are ridden forward.

quite a few current races where that's happening - I bet that Alan King one too - don't really rate Cannon highly
