Some colours are kept or sold but some go. Sheikh Abu Ali Khamsin, Nicky Phillips, Gerry Oldham, Lord Roseberry, Carlo Vittadini, Lady Beaverbrook, Duchess of Westminster all come quickly to mind.
Correct Punchestown! Now a hard one! Whose racing colours were Silver Grey with Black Buttons and a Black velvet cap. Late 60's into the 70's. Another clue to follow if no one gets it.

John Mulhern back in the day when you could put mostly whatever you wanted on the silks-"Red with a White question mark on the back and front".
Galmoy winning the Stayers twice amongst the more high profile carriers of them.

Guy Reeds' silks were easily recognizable back in time, Black and Gold squares (Chessboard arrangement) with Pink sleeves and cap. Still used after his death by the family (?) but i don't know if they still are.

Andrew.Memory not what it was but sure I saw them towards the end of 2022. Liked his horses in big handicaps back in the day. Sure he had a horse placed in the Derby ridden by Piggott who jocked off maybe Bleasdale or even AJ Russell.

The silver grey and black colours were those of a jockey turned trainer - Silver Grey Black buttons and black velvet cap - No one's got it yet, so more clues
A champion jockey and won several Caribbean Group 1's as a trainer.

Yes Workrider, Scobie it is. Great Jockey and great colours, they'd fly if they ever came up for sale - Be a battle between Clipper Logistics and Young Hamdan.

Glasgow - Punchestown posted below - John Mulhern (Galmoy etc) had those colours. Peter Dimmock (Sportsview fame) beat him to it. He had yellow with a black winning post.

Workrider. Well done re Scobie.Had the privilege of seeing him in action couple of times. Outstanding jockey in an era of outstanding riders. The first thing I was drawn to was the size of his hands. Blackbarn/Workrider. I'm afraid that in the company of you guys I'm a low grade plater.

Peter Pillar colours of Blazing Walker fame were a regular fixture in the 80s
GLASGOWCALLING
I have definitely seen the question mark on the silks in American racing, probably at Breeders Cup as I don't watch much US racing !

it's funny how you think of old fav horses and imagine the colours in your mind,
thought about Burrough Hill Lad (hooped sleeves) and a few from that era popped into my head,
Wayward Lad - blue and mauve Combs Ditch - checked yellow and black Egypt Mill Prince - all white West Tip - blue with dark cap Maori Venture - black with orange cap Dessie - grey sleeves Norton's Coin - black
feel free to correct me where I've got it wrong !

I think that Egypt Mill Prince colours had a fine stripe but mainly white. Egypt Mill was a big restaurant in Nailsworth only 4 miles from where I lived for 50 years and a venue for "special" occasions. I can't recall the owners name. Maori Venture was Jim Joel so Red cap, not orange. The West Tip colours were still around for the Luff family until 2015. Jenny Mould of Charter Party fame among many other good horses was Green with gold stars as I recall, but when Charter Party won the GC, he carried different colours as he was jointly owned with Claire Smith.

Hubbard won the Hennessy once from Jodami who was ridden by Mark Dwyer who seemed to ride Jodami for speed. Next year the real Jodami won the Gold Cup when they went a right gallop all the way thanks to Rushing Wild.

Stack in Ireland.Yellow with a blue square. From memory the Pillar horses trained by the great W A Stephenson carried yellow with a blue stripe. The Stack connection is there though (Tommy).Like you I recalled Pillar being the way the name was spelt. All from memory of course.

isn't it funny how memory works, for the life of me I wouldn't have remembered who P Cheesbrough was if you asked me but when I clicked on Blazing Walker's form, I recall after Arthur died, his nephew Peter took over the training of the horses for a while, I wonder whatever happened to him !

I think that's correct Punchestown, because when Noel Whitcomb started the Club, they initially and for a while used Noel's colours which were are as you state (well Flame not Red!!!! - effing pedant!!!). Noel was fired by Robert Maxwell from the Mirror because the "bouncing Czech" didnt like the look of Noel's expense account. Pretty rum given HIS expense account was funded by Mirror pensioners.

I had to google who was the owner of those colours blackbarn. In doing so I found he died aged 91 in 2013. In 2014 his daughter in law died falling down some steps and in 2019 her daughter, his grand daughter, was strangled to death by her boyfriend, a drug addicted German bouncer.

Another long term colour is that of S Nelson who has several horses with with Tom George White with navy blue sleeves, star and cap. The claim to fame was a horse called Galileo-not that one but Galileo (Fr) who won at the Festival as I recall.

She was a great friend of Sir Peter O'Sullevan who managed her horses in GB as I recall. I remember a horse of hers called Agistment trained by Jimmy Fitzgerald. It had won a bumper at Haydock and then turned up in the same race a year later with a 7lb penalty. I happened to be there with some friends and because of the colours, I backed it at an amazing 10/1 and it won 10 lengths.

That was Galileo(Pol). There have been plenty of Galileos over the years. The best-named was probably the one by Galivanter out of Tinted Venus. He made his 2yo debut on Sir Ivor's 2000 Guineas card at Newmarket in 1968, but he wasn't much cop, just a low-grade sprint handicapper.
There won't be any more now - at least not in GB, IRE, and perhaps FR.

Penser changed his racing colours sometime in the 70's. His now Orange, Black Hoop and White cap used to be the very Swedish Blue and Yellow halved with a White cap and Blue diamond.
