The Irish may as well stay at home , the forum seems to have decided it's Constitutional Hill for a National & Boat Race double.

Iwilldoit now not able to run in the race.

I hate all this about it being a "better" race now ...ITS NOT !!!!!!.......What it needs is placed and your in races to give the true stayers a chance of a run.....Welsh National ,Scottish National , Eider Chase ,Beacher Chase,,,Id allow the placed horses in Cheltenham foxhunters a run as was ....race becomming as dull ditchwater ....a bit like the Cheltenham festival........

Appeal of the race diminishes every year, like the rest of our NH racing.

The race used to give me butterflies in the stomach.......watching last years renewal was the first one(since 1971) where I thought it really is now a very poor spectacle ....and without doubt a lesser race and enjoyable to watch and bet on than any of the Irish , Scottish and Welsh versions..........utterly ruined.

If the limit on number of runners is met, why does the number of entries matter? There were usually a load of moderate chasers entered who end up allotted 9.0 or less and have no chance of getting a run. The differential between Irish and GB entries is a big worry though. I do agree that winners of certain races should be qualified to be entered but if they are then balloted out, what is the point? It is still a spectacle but I can't remember the last time I backed the winner! Give me the Gold Cup any day.
