Not long back from my enjoyable extended stay/holiday in Brazil.
Sleeping not yet in sync - and therefore ended up watching the later races from Australia on the Australia Day cards.
Lo and behold - who goes and Wins the $160,000 Australia Day Cup, at Warwick Farm racecourse, but - King Charles - with the ex-William Haggas trained CHALK STREAM - formerly owned and named by his mother, The Queen.
The horse was sent to Australia - still owned by The Queen - around a year ago, to be trained by Chris Waller.
Given that the horse has run like the 'proverbial gonner' since April last year, including 5 poor Trial outings (not shown on the RacingPost record) (below) - it looks like Mr Waller may well have worked his magic with something like today's prize in mind, and the goodwill that will be generated by this success....
Despite the fact the King Charles would, more than likely, be tucked up in bed when the race was run - and, possibly, blissfully unaware of the race being run.

Somewhat coincidently, though - I did start a Thread on here (in April 2021) about this horse - and the PREVIOUS Chalk Stream - trained by the legendary 'Handicap King' Eric Cousins, for a young Robert Sangster...

The Queen has just had a horse named Chalk Stream run at Yarmouth.
Surely she remembers the original Chalk Stream ...
- or are major Handicaps beneath her brief?
Eric Cousins, feared by the bookies for his coups, was one of Britain's shrewdest trainers.
He changed the face of racing by introducing to the sport his neighbour Robert Sangster, the man from the Football Pools.
Cousins' first really big "touch" was with the first Sangster horse, Robert's wedding present to his wife, Chalk Stream, bought by Cousins for pounds 1,000 from Sir Foster Robinson, whose grandson Nick has long been Sangster's valued friend and partner.
Narrowly beaten in the 1959 Lincoln, Chalk Stream had been cleverly placed by Cousins until the day of the big gamble.
The chosen race was the 1961 running of Kempton Park's famous one-and- a- quarter-mile Great Jubilee Handicap, so beloved by the old gambling trainers like Atty Persse, who won it six times.
Top weight with 9st 5lb was the French challenger Prince Ali Khan's handsome chestnut Sallymount ridden by the Australian star Neville Sellwood. Chalk Stream, with two stone less, piloted by the apprentice Brian Lee, had been a slightly dodgy starter on several occasions.
So, on his trainer's instructions, the 24-year-old Sangster stationed himself on the rails by the bookmakers, looking up at the top of the stand where Cousins was positioned with a clear view of the start. If Chalk Stream jumped off all right, he would raise his hat.
Sure enough, as the tapes went up and Chalk Stream jumped, Cousins lifted his hat and Sangster swung round to the rails to have a huge bet at 8-1.
A tremendous race saw Chalk Stream get up in the last stride to beat Sallymount by a head. Young Sangster had got the racing bug for good.
After moving to Tarporley in Cheshire during the 1960 season Eric Cousins earned the reputation for turning out winners of the most important handicaps, having landed the Kempton Jubilee four years in succession with Chalk Stream, Water Skier (1962-63) and Commander-in-Chief (1964), the Lincolnshire with John's Court (1961) and Hill Royal (1962), the Victoria Cup with Tudor Treasure (1963), the Portland Handicap with Audrey Joan (1966), the Ayr Gold Cup with Dawn Watch (1960), Kamundu (1965) and Brief Star (1969), and the Cambridgeshire with Commander-in-Chief (1963).
Cousins' stable jockey was George Cadwaladr, who had been his apprentice. "He never tied me down with instructions," Cadwaladr said.
'Ride it as you find it as long as you are on the bridle.' 'If you can't go with them, they are going too fast' was one of his favourite expressions."
Eric Cousins retired from training in 1977, but he continued to farm at Tarporley. He died while bathing in the sea off Barbados.

Should have said Brian Lee was a jockey I had forgotten about.
I would think he is "blissfully unaware" he even owns it!

Charles would rather talk to his plants than watch his Horse run and anybody that thinks otherwise knows fack all.
Yes - stewarts - Travelled on my own - KLM via Amsterdam, and Return Air France through Paris.
Met up with a Brazilian family there, though, who now live just 4 miles from my home, having come to England 5 years ago - and they were visiting their parents (and consequently their 8-year-old daughter's grandparents) for the Christmas and New Year period - hence the and their just over a couple of weeks in Iguaba Grande where the parents/grandparents have now retired to.
The Brazilians are in their early forties, and took the decision to leave Rio de Janeiro - and good jobs, as part of a major company's Legal team (the girl/mother) and a fairly top-end Artistic and campaign planner for an Advertising Agency (the chap/father) - as the mother decided that Rio de Janeiro was 'no place to bring up my daughter'.
I have known them ever since they arrived in England, and have helped them immensely with all the hoops that have had to be jumped through to get settlement here, along with getting Bank Accounts, registering for all kinds of other situations to build-up their status and profile here; getting the daughter firstly into Nursery and then Primary School etc, and a host of other things.
Even lent them the money for the deposit on a stone end-terrace house we found, and wanted, as only she had a good enough job (at the time) in order to be offered a relatively moderate mortgage.
They are, and have been, worth it, though, as they are a lovely family, and the father has now had a position in Advertising relevant to his talents and status for the past couple of years, too.
Imagine - Deciding at 38-years-old to 'Up sticks' from your routine life of the past 20 years, or so, to then go to Lisbon (where they first spent a year) with an only just 2-yer-old daughter - and with your whole life in 7 or 8 large suitcases.
That takes some guts and determination ... and makes many of the annoying Photo-Finishes that I have been chinned in in my lifetime somewhat pale into insignificance.
