Always used to listen to Terry Wogan followed by Ken Bruce in the morning, didn't need to change station, then unfortunately they got the dreadful Chris Evans in to replace Terry, mornings were never the same again! Actually liked to listen to Sarah Green from 5.00, half the time she was p1ssed!

Often listened to Popmaster,Ken was apparently on £385-390k a year,n0t bad for spinning a few tracks and an amiable chat or two for 3 hours 5 days a week,however isn't Zoe Ball on over double that? ffs.

I remember her playing a recording by Amy Winehouse, 1st time on radio, let it play for about 30 seconds turned it off, saying oh dear Amy what were you thinking of, that's awful!

never heard of ken bruce either and from what i can see its no surprise. dunno why anyone would listen to that garbage

Received from the Bank of England big cheese I met at a wedding. The favoured accents for call centre workers, because they sound so friendly and helpful, are Edinburgh and area, Scotland and County Down Northern Ireland. Yorkshire never even got a mention. Owt!

Blimey, I agree with Loyal Honcho, whose source is spot on with Edinburgh and district - Perfect English!!. Soft Geordie and Glasgee is good too.
What is remarkable is that most companies did not start telephone interviewing/recruiting for their Telephone Servicing staff until the late 1990's. Imagine doing face to face interviewing and recruiting someone without even hearing how they sounded over the phone, yet that was the norm. We used to have a saying, it you don't sound as though you are smiling, you ain't hired. If you think thats bo77ocks, think about the last customer service rep you spoke to on the phone.

Scottish Actor Peter Mullen has the best accent i have ever heard in my life.
Radio 2 has gone down the pan only thing I listen to is Ken apart from early morning and Cox couldn't name another presenter who is that controller ex - Labour if memory serves aren't they accountable to anybody? Pigs me off paying my license fee for what is now dross. What's the figures do they stack up? Privatize them join the Mayo revolution on greatest hits just like the good old days hopefully Ken will head in that direction. 5 o'clock slot on 2 is just so awful a voice that just grates suspect she knows that.
One if Ken's mates from his BBC Scotland days says Ken owns"Popmaster"and he's taking it with him!

Rather than being forced out by New Labour wokesters or friends of Zoe Ball, it is more likely Ken got a better offer. That said, Ken will be 72 years old in a fortnight's time so maybe he did not want to take the chance his BBC contract would not be renewed.

Ramruma still a pleasure to listen to Ken you know radio 2 at one point was the very best bit like BHA and way GC is going sadly it isn't anymore bring back the Jockey Club was it Wiley that started the rot or the planks making the decisions are similarities Mayo still the best.
I must agree, Mullan has one of the finest Scottish voices ever. A Peterhead loon brought up in the hard school which is the south of Glasgow. Made it all on his own, a self-made and much honoured and decorated actor.

For me Ray Moore was the best with big alma and gatport airwick follwed by Bruce ,Jimmy Young (amazingly) and early Wogan . Stopped listening altogether after that , pure dross .
