that's funny stewy you use the word 'respect' I doubt there's a single person who views your threads and respects you. I'd be staggered if the money you receive to bet was accrued off your own bat. If you were a light bulb you'd be half a watt. |

I get what you say Kenbo,it was a spat between him and shafter where stew was claiming his dads service and shafter was disparaging the forces so did it just to wind Steve up.At least the RBL benefitted which probably cheesed both off,stew being proven a liar and Steves dislike of uniformed service persons!!

No idea how many guys would carry kenbo,just remember him being taken to task and then admitting he lied.I worked on the side for a few days when based in Colchester to help out a civvy mate,bottom of North Hill,new insurance company building.Vaguely remember the little compy's they had and how much they talked about how much a good hod carrier could earn just for being quick and strong.
The ones I remember were mostly wiry rather than big guys? |

I’ve not used one much myself. I was 16y/o when I first used one and hated it. Awkward to carry, sore on your shoulder and not a very quick way to work. Most ex hod carriers are sixty plus now and look years older!

Loading bays on scaffold now. The forklift puts two packs of bricks on there and you wheel a band of bricks round on a sack truck. Takes 15 minutes to load out 1000 bricks instead of a day.
No ladder any more either. A staircase on each lift. |

spends all his time trying to convince everyone he is knowledgeable winning punter but doesn't know what a horses OR handicap mark is. Wins a few Bob yesterday, says a couple of small bets at the night meeting, then punts over a grand. Now apparently he does his own ratings! Who gets off peddling that **** ? Add the famous 5, the burner phones, the dog man etc Haven't a clue why he does it or feels the need to constantly after time. I'm going to sit on my hands from now, no point he will never change. |

s.kenbo, the back is the big killer, especially if you're tall, everything starts on the ground and it's a long way to bend down! Building work (and osteo and rheumatoid arthritis) certainly have ruined my Dad's retirement. I'd get out whilst things still work OK if you can.
