can   someone clarify the commission on betfair exchange ...i was under the impression it was 5% for winning exchange bets and 2% on betfair sp  bets ? I have been backing outsiders lately and been using Belfair sp but seems i am getting charged 5%.Also on my betfair rewards one of my options is 5% commission which i thought was the usual rate so not exactly a reward.

beaky -

It used to be - 5& all round - All Markets (More in some Australian territories) - Less your (usually mostly small discount, based on your Turnover)

Don't know where you have been .......

- But around 2 years ago (of not more) Betfair may have realised they were strangling the Golden Goose - so Offered EVERYBODY - just 2%) Commission on All Markets (except some Australian)

Practically EVERYBODY obviously Opted for the 2% Option ... which meant you forfeited your rights to "Betfair Rewards" - and other spurious Promotions (That, in the vast majority of cases, could

@beaky

I can never remember a time when SP bets were charged different commission from other Exchange bets.

As onlooker says, on everything bar Australian markets, these days you will be charged a flat 2%, 5% or 8%.

Click on "My Betfair Rewards" in the black menu bar at the top of the site to change which one you pay - I think it takes effect the following calendar month.

"one of my options is 5% commission which i thought was the usual rate so not exactly a reward"

The 5% is not the "reward" - the "reward" is the free bets or free spins or whatever you get as a "reward" for choosing to pay more than the basic 2% commission.

@beaky

Nothing to do with the thread topic but I am intrigued by "I have not had pc or laptop for ten years or more".  I have not been without one for nearly 30 years and I could not be without one.  Smartphones are wonderful for having everything with you all the time, but I find them impossibly fiddly for anything serious.  So I have to ask - "why?"

Same as me longbridge, laptops or desktops far superior to messing around on mobile phones. Only use my phone when I leave the house.
