Have noticed that previous.  He didn't help the horse there at Yarmouth.  Jockey all over the place with whip in wrong hand at different stages.  Horse was still green but needed a much stronger rider to steer it in the right direction.

In the 1st at Yarmouth today, if youve not seen it go and take a look. He settled the fav out the back then for some crazy reason rushed it around the outside of the field to force an already strong pace. Personally I think would have won if he had held on to it a lot longer than he did....very strange ride imo.

He's a 7lbs claimer. The 7lb allowance is there for a reason

Appears to have an appalling record when riding favourites ?.

Winners from rides stats always amaze me ! Always forget to mention the horses being ridden .

I know he is a 7lb claimer and totally understand the risks involved. Some apprentices are value for their claim but I am just highlighting that I dont think he is value.

Am sure he is a nice bloke but most certainly will struggle to breakthrough imo.

7lb claimers take time to learn their trade and need to be given that time before anyone jumps to conclusions.

TameTheTiger said hes had 96 rides. How many rides do you think he needs to learn  Sparrow?

He could’ve done 96 rides in 50 days. Most apprenticeships take years to learn and even longer to master.

You’re just another pocket talker moaning about another odds on loser. Don’t worry though, you aren’t alone!

Quite acceptable figure for a 7lb claimer. 96 rides at 16% is ok as not all the rides would have been in with a chance.

We shall see if he makes it or not but just give the boy a chance is all I say.

I never had a bet on either...just observed some bad riding and commented on it.

Sparrow, i wish Connor well, i know all jockeys make mistakes but he will never carry any of my money unless I see a rapid improvement.

Some jockeys would have ridden a treble on them 3 today, that i have no doubt.

Pity I backed Temple Bruer, horse should have won,Dancingbrave is correct that Conor has still got to strengthen up,u often find that in young appys they lack the strength in sprint races to get go forward in the lat furlong

Yes Tangle, i agree it should have won. Tbh Connor looked good on the horse, uses the whip well and pushes horses in rhythm but his decision to rush forward on his ride in the 1st is unfathomable in my eyes. Hopefully he will learn by his mistakes but like I have previously said I will steer clear until I see some evidence of improvement.

sparrow , they aren't given time to develop , the 7lbs is exploited at the lowest grade by tinpot trainers desperate for a winner at any costs.
The system needs revising soon

Hushwing.....You may recall even Hollie Doyle being slated on here as a 5 and 7lb claimer. As you rightly say these claimers need time but within that time they need to get experience riding against established jockeys.

The changes required by the system would possibly involve altering the handicap system.
