If so, you'd say the same about Atzeni. The ground beat Trueshan; atone in the Prix du Cadran on Arc Day.
Report impossible123 August 4, 2022 7:00 PM BST
I think it's probable he'll get his softish ground (softish last two renewals) in the Champions Long Distance Cup at Ascot in October. His price is 2/1; 'evens' last renewal; beat Stradivarius on previous two renewals.

I think he'll beat Kyprios (7/2) too if he turns up softish ground.
Report De_man August 4, 2022 7:55 PM BST
Thought Atzeni was a woman too tbh as weak as one in a driving finish ... ground not ideal and against as was the ride but still needs a better pilot onboard ...put Buick up please ..
Report De_man August 4, 2022 7:58 PM BST
Agree ..think on softer ground will beat Strad and the ground might beat Kyprios by bluntimg his speed at the end of races bit he might just be special and keep pulling out bit more...
Trueshan goes a bit keenly early doors so id like to see Buick with a brain go make all and make it a stayers test on amazing stayer horse PG
Report HallGreenSpy August 4, 2022 9:12 PM BST
Beats both on soft for me. Even more so on heavy.
Report De_man August 8, 2022 10:53 PM BST
Defo on heavy ...
Report impossible123 August 9, 2022 12:30 PM BST
I think the price of 2/1 for Champions Day Long Distance Cup in October is 50% on (unknown) weather; the last couple had been on good to soft or soft going; probability the same too in October.
Report De_man August 11, 2022 1:17 AM BST

The biggest certainty today; 1/3 on soft going against this lot.

Report differentdrum September 11, 2022 2:57 PM BST
Looked all too much for Doyle. No pace, turns into a sprint, and then she can't keep the horse straight. Hasn't she been watching the racing? Horses are not coming back off a slow pace. Another one of many overrated jocks. You literally can't rely on any of them. I backed Coltrane at Goodwood, and he palpably didn't stay, and then he was hammered by Quickthorn when he didn't ever get within shouting distance at any stage. Just a nonsense result, and there are far too many of these unless of course you are a bookmaker.
Report carrot1960 September 11, 2022 2:58 PM BST
Perfect conditions for the horse for a change and Hollie gives the horse a stinking ride

Don't need to be a bookmaker to lay horses.
Report racing6699 September 11, 2022 3:06 PM BST
jockeys who are on the best horses in the race and sit stone last on soft ground on tracks that have long stiff finishes are literally the most bread dead sports people i can think off. Its proven 99% of time it s not the place to be ever.  IR the price went out straight away just from her positioning.
Report Anakin_ September 11, 2022 3:06 PM BST
People like itv been lauding her up only because she is a woman.  A bang average rider, and a poor one when you got a headstrong horse.  She can not get a custard to settle let alone a group 1 stayer.  Think this demonstates how poor she really is.  Its ok winning on good horses that settle but that the job requires alot more!
Report carrot1960 September 11, 2022 3:12 PM BST
Give it a rest , she's proved her worth time after time ,today was just an ill judged ride
Report stu September 11, 2022 3:13 PM BST
She is overrated, but then it's obvious she would be - they spend their time overrating most things in racing - trainers, jockeys, sometimes horses even.

But add in the 'women' element, and it's obvious she would be overrated - there's even some on here that do it!!
Report Ibrahima Sonko September 11, 2022 3:14 PM BST

A good jockey these days is one who messes up less than others. None of them are that good. Let's face it the media only big them up, never criticising rubbish rides, giving a totally false impression.

I wonder if Steve Cauthen , pat eddery , Willie Carson , the great lestor , would have got trueshan beat Confused the standard of jockeys today compared to those greats it’s like the premier league and non league apart from frankie I can’t think of any that could be in there class

THE CORAL DONCASTER CUP STAKES (CLASS 1) (Group 2) (British Champions Series)

The Stewards called a review notice into an incident approaching the final ½ furlong marker when the winner COLTRANE, shifted quickly right taking LISMORE, placed third, which shifted left, slightly off its intended line. Having reviewed the incident and after allowing the riders to pass Scales on weighing in, the Stewards took no further action and allowed the weighed in signal to be given.

Hollie Doyle the rider of TRUESHAN (FR), placed second, was suspended for 4 days for using her whip above the permitted level from 2½ furlongs out.
Report Storm Alert September 11, 2022 3:43 PM BST
Much as I like Trueshan (apart from when I layed him at Newcastle), he fecks up so many races, by not running and last two races the jockey seems to have a crisis of confidence (too much followed by not enough). Be glad when he is retired.
Report impossible123 September 11, 2022 3:58 PM BST
Assuming pilot error was the culprit for his defeat 5/1 from 2/1 in the Ascot Long distance Cup with the likely ground he loves thrown in must be backable; was 7.2 here - all gone.
Report Storm Alert September 11, 2022 4:22 PM BST
Wasn't matched at 7.2. £6 available at 5.7, not tempted until I know if Kyprios is going to turn up.
Report impossible123 September 11, 2022 5:00 PM BST
I'd £2 at 7.2. However, after today I firmly believe Kyprios is the genuine new staying kid; Stradivarius just managed to beat Spanish Mission on his ground, and that was the 1st indication he was on the decline. Similarly, Trueshan today was BAD despite having his ground, and against an inferior lot unless 99% of the defeat was pilot error.
Report differentdrum September 11, 2022 5:46 PM BST
Kyprios did well to win today considering that the second appeared to be cantering, and didn't just throw in the towel. They were well clear of the third.

This was easily the best of the male performances today against the likes of Highfield Princess, Taniyra, Trillium and The Platinum Queen. Unfortunately, it looked a dreadful St Leger reduced to a sprint between a very ordinary bunch who finished on top of each other.
Report basilbrush September 11, 2022 6:18 PM BST
Wasnt much of a ride from Holly in all truth, looking at the horses most recent runs a different jockey would probably be a judicious move.
Report impossible123 September 11, 2022 6:54 PM BST
According to trainer Trueshan was looking after himself. He'd not let himself down until the final furlong - he was remembering Goodwood (goodish) ground. Also, Trueshan had a hard race at Newcastle.
Report acey deucy September 11, 2022 7:06 PM BST
How could anybody know what a horse is remembering walofs.
Report stu September 11, 2022 7:23 PM BST

Maybe Trueshan needs a 'faith healer' or some mental health treatment before it runs next time...
Report smirnoff2therescue September 11, 2022 7:25 PM BST
impossible is close to the mark imo - and aceys ignorance is spellbinding bearing in mind he once worked in the industry so shud know a fair bit about horses welfare etc etc.

Goodwood race was clearly a grind for all 3 and must hav left its mark on one two or all 3 horses yet Trueshan runs flat today and its all down to jockey error blah blah blah - simple fact is an on song Trueshan wuda carried these but it werent to be today yet Kyprios - a much younger horse wiv less miles on the clock who many were queuing up to crab after latest run ran out a comfy winner - as Saint used to say in the footie "its a funny old game"
Report differentdrum September 11, 2022 8:01 PM BST
Sounds as if King has just got his deflection excuse book out. Trainers criticise jocks in public about as much as the media.
Report impossible123 September 12, 2022 5:33 PM BST
I think it was a major mistake and a major contributing factor for the defeat of Trueshan when Doyle decided to anchor Trueshan at the back despite the pitiful pace. I'm not writing off Trueshan (yet), and given he's missing The Cadran and Kyprios probably Arc bound the Ascot Long Distance Cup could be his bounty having missed so many open goals because of undesirable ground.

Soumillon committed the same cardinal sin on Vadeni in The Champion Stakes.
