Maybe he needs a holiday old people like Saga...............SEND A GRANDAD AWAY

Yep, certainly still bristling about Saga, I guess it's the knighthood on hold and he thought he had it the bag.

Johnny G - a product of the upper class who despise those peasants below them (as they perceive it).
Great trainer but you wouldn't want to feel his displeasure. |

Ruthless just ask Jimmy Fortune.

He's paid to train horses that's his job , hardly need to be Einstein.
He's a hired hand who needs to get on with his job and stop creating for news stories. |

Poor Jimmy didn't even see it coming.

I've never liked John Gosden and today he's shown his true colours Typically he did his best to put us away when asked about Inspiral's chances, 'She'll come on for the run' was the best he could offer! he couldn't hold a candle to the likes of Charlie Appleby, who imo is different class, both as a man and as a trainer. Gosden has basked in the success of Frankie Dettori for some years and now is the 1st to throw him under the bus when he has a bad day. I can't see them continuing their partnership, not if Frankie's got any sense, he doesn't need Gosden!

'driver2', I agree about Gosden. He was economical with the truth about Emily Upjohn. Similarly, So Mi Dar plus a few others in the past.
Dettori won so many races for him when stuffing Moore at Ascot eg Journey (F&M). I was disappointed (for a professional) he said (in public) what he said about Saga ie the horse should have won yesterday; I was astonished gobsmacked even when he said Inspiral was ready for The Guineas, then suffered a setback. He never said or even hinted that; Cheveley Park rep hinted she'd not come to herself only (nothing about a setback). But, I was glad the lady Cheveley Park owner stipulated Inspiral would step-up in distance; Gosden - caught unaware -responded possibly 10f. |

By:
Agree with driver , should get on with the job he's paid to do , at the moment he's coming across as an attention seeking ****.

Remember Gosden running Roaring Lion in The Derby? Most thought it was too far for the horse - I did. Also, not running Jack Hobbs on softish ground (his favoured going) in The Arc just because of Golden Horn was not sporting either.

By:
Neither have had a good week, but typical racing the one you could have found plenty of reasons to oppose bolts up.
|
|
By:
I've just watched Saga again, Gosden knows his stuff but she was never travelling like a winner and at the time I was surprised she got so close.
|
|
By:
Has Dettori been attention seeking this week? I thought he was keeping a low profile especially after yesterdays rides. Can't really avoid the media and I thought his interview today was good enough.
|
|
By:
I think poster meant Gosden. A private word between the two would have been more useful; AOB did with Dettori as witnessed by tv.
|
|
By:
A O Brien would never throw his jockey under a bus like he has. Total lack of class and humility.

|
By:
One obviously has class the other does not.

Rainbow View an odds on loser in the 2000 gns is one I will always remember in 2008. After the race he says that Jimmy told him that the ground was like a road yet later on he had another runner who would only run if the ground was suitable it was a soft ground horse who not only ran but won the race as well. Never taken any notice of Gosden since.

I think Dettori ought contemplate going freelance as he does not need the money or the adulation. He's had a bad Ascot - even he'd agree, but very few and far between. To me he's still the best jockey here; most trainers will still use him including AOB, I believe.
Gosden is in the twilight of his career. And, when he finally hangs up his training boot the present owners at Clarehaven might consider other option too. |

IMHO a lot of the partnerships of father and son end up in disappointment. Gary Moore says if his lads want to train, they set up themselves.

this is true. Gosden doubling down on Frankie today - what's that all about? |
|

Gosden a friend of Matt Hancock, enough said

Gosden does not have Runners in Every race at the bigger meetings - let alone every race, every day - leaving Dettori free for 'spares' - But - Frankie would NOT being running around after rides all over the place, anyway - Strewth - How much more money does he need ? - and he still rides some for Aidan O'Brien He is SEMORETIRED as it stands - misses many a day's racing as it is .... and he is 51 years old, too You post ... My mum was friends (after the fact) with the wife of the pilot of the plane involved in the crash. I won't tell you what she thinks of LF but having class isn't involved. It was their wedding anniversary or something and he rang her to cancel the reservation as he wouldn't be flying home that night as it was too dangerous - something changed that. I'll leave you lot to imagine what that might have been.
I thought the ride on Strad was mediocre but I don't think he'd have finished nearer - the ride on Saga was terrible when put together with the pics before the race where he looked a million miles away and rode 75% of the race that way! |

Frankie Dettori was given a two-day riding ban by the stewards at Ascot on Friday, following an inquiry into his use of the whip on Stradivarius in the Gold Cup.
The stewards were unable to interview Dettori on Thursday, so the hearing was carried forward 24 hours. The officials ruled Dettori had used his whip above the permitted level in the closing stages of the race, one which prompted much discussion afterwards and left trainer John Gosden wondering out loud why Dettori had opted to take the three-time winner back from his early position. The eight-year-old had to be switched widest of all for a run, and despite finishing with a flourish he had to settle for third behind Kyprios and Mojo Star. |
|
By:
Everybody has a right to an opinion and to show dissatisfaction. I have no problem with that at all and even Dettori is not beyond reproach. He's a big boy and has the character to take the criticism as all high profile sports people have to do at some stage of their careers. It should have been left at that though and not raked over yet again today by Gosden.
|
|
By:
Frankie is very much near the end of his career and is rarely riding in the day to day routine stuff which is probably doing him no favours and as for freelance if he's not prepared to graft the opportunities would soon dry up.
He will not go beyond next year if Gosden eases him out. And finally he will rarely win close finishes now as he's lost that strength at the death |
|
By:
gosdens horses arent running well for a stable with the quality horses he has, easy to point the finger at detttori if you want a scapegoat
|
|
By:
He wasn't on the best horse on the day in my opinion but you could see Dettori's body language was wrong throughout the gold cup, overthinking it. If there's a confidence jockey it's him and it's lacking currently.
|
|
By:
His riding has been abysmal all week, even on inspiral today he was lucky the horse had 4 stone in hand, what was he doing after the gates opened.
|
|
By:
I think that many of you have lost the point, particularly the likes of you spyker, (whatever are you on about?) No one is denying that Dettori has not had a good week and no one would deny that Ryan Moore wasn't exactly at the top of his game last season, but Aiden stuck by him and NEVER once berated him publicly. Gosden is once again making headlines in the Racing Post this morning slagging off Dettori again and I thought that he said words to the effect that "we get over it, we move on!" Doesn't look like he's getting over it!

Just watched the Brittania again and I don't think Frankie did a whole lot wrong on - always frustrating when you finish strongly and just fail to get up but that's big field handicaps for you.
The Stradivarous ride was worse, especially because it was a repeat of last year and the stayers race on Champions day. After 2f you knew Frankie was in trouble - he broke well and could easily have gone forward, it's not like Stradivarious is an especially complicate ride. I magine the owner was seriously annoyed straight after the race and that maybe fed through to Gosden being an ars*. |

By:
I was at Leicester races about 20 years ago and the way Gosden spoke to the stable staff was appalling. Admonishing them in front of owners and using the word 'boy' in a disdainful way.

I guess we don't know what goes on behind the scenes, who knows what's happening there.
