What an amazing card. Baaeed and Coroebus look like shoe ins but I’m going for Royal Scotsman in the Coventry at 10/1 each way. I was blown away by the Goodwood run and if he can act on this faster ground he will take some beating. Price starting to go as well.
I'm with you OP. Wanted to take the front 2 on in the Coventry. Nothing against them as racehorses, just a price thing. Got it down to a Royal Scotsman v Age of Kings v Bradsell shoot out. Liked the way RS went about his job at Goodwood, travelled very enthusiastically and ran right to the line like a horse who looks very genuine. The 4th that day came out and bolted up so it was pleasing to see the form get an early boost. Got some of the 12s and had a couple of small savers on the other 2.

I think unless the ground (unlikely to me) is a factor for Coroebus 4/5 is a stonking price against these lot; a 1/3 chance is available at 4/5; double with Baaeed (1/5) it's 5/4 post a price boost.

Going to be an absolute tear up. Can’t have Nature Strip. Well I’ll be honest…I’ve never warmed to him in Australia so can’t really back him now. Golden Pal bombed out the last time in England…although he has improved and Irad is coming into this on big high. Has he ever won in England? Maybe about time.
But MoP isn’t short of speed and maybe if he’s been freshened up since Dubai he can hang with them and overhaul them with 6f stamina late on.
Haven’t done any bets as yet…I like the Japanese horse in the POW the most this week. Gold Cup looks a lovely betting race. I can work something there definitely.

I've played Might Ulysses who I think still has more improvement to come & Lusail. Everything that could go wrong in 2000gns went wrong for him. Fell out of the stalls, then he couldn't find a gap when he needed it and then he got bumped when making his run. This is what Timeform had to say Dual Group 2 winner over 6f at 2 yrs, including the Gimcrack at York. Returned with a good second (Angel Bleu third) in Greenham but his limitations were seemingly exposed when 5¼ lengths sixth of 15 to Coroebus in 2000 Guineas since. This is why you should always do your own work on a race.
Also played Coroebus/Mighty U & Coroebus/Lusail F/Cs in case Coroebus is just as good away from his "home" track.
Agree with you ELG. I want to take the 2 overseas raiders on in the King's Stand too.....I'm still trying to find something though!

Coroebus is the best horse in the race for sure. But, not having a race anywhere else is slightly off putting. Maybe he doesn't travel well? It might be idea to hold fire until you see him going down to post?

Fluffed his lines at York last year but Golden Pal has been amazing ever since, seems to be getting stronger and stronger and after watching his races several times I just cant see anything getting past him in the King Stands, like many of his stables horses he's like a bullet out of the stalls. Prepared to be wrong of course, backed at 4.7 and will hope to lay off below evens in running. Good luck whatever you're on.

Surprised Lights On isn't going for the DOC. Would have been one of my best bets of the meeting if she'd went for that one. This isn't a vintage QA so maybe she can chase home the "good thing" of the meeting.

Is it not Moore who's a habit of getting stuck behind traffic or the rail until it was way to late? He's on a few shorties eg Kyprios. By the way why is this fav? I do understand Strad is a pensioner and Trueshan an unlikely runner, but Kyprios has only beaten donkeys in Ireland. Maybe the lack of quality esp if Trueshan is an absentee.

John Queally rarely ventures too far afield unless he feels his charge can do itself justice, the bonus of having Davies take off 5lb makes Arcadian Sunrise in the Ascot Stakes a play for me, gl all

It is is possible to get Royal Scotsman 11/1 with the boost on Sportsbook (e/w terms shocking thou) atm. As it's the £10 free bet race if not in first three. Race is a lottery, not sure if no.1 draw and fast ground will suit and overall form figures is a fair bit below the first four in the betting, so will need to improve again. GL , £10 is all I would want to risk in the race.

Royal Scotsman ew backer signing in, just slightly worried about 1 draw. Also interesting Stoute running Lights On in opener rather than tomorrow's DoC. Think it's partly due to ground. She wants some dig & she'll get best of ground in today's opener. She's the bet for me w/o Baeed e/w. Also keen on Stoute's Regal Reality - knows how to lay 1 out for this type of race, ideal low draw & he loves fast ground.

Feels like a day to dabble on some big prices. I have settled on Scholarship, Equilateral, Wexford Native and New Mandate. I do also agree with Gooner that Man of Promise could be interesting and think Pied Piper may be the best play at shorter odds. I'll leave the odds on shots to the professionals.

3.05 ROUSING ENCORE - he’s won on firm ground, he’s won giving weight away, an each way bet
3.40 GOLDEN PAL - brilliant speed, he also won’t mind the firm going
4.20 COROEBUS - if he’s 10/11 or better he’s worth backing
Elsewhere
3.55 AWESOME DUDE
6.53 BOY GEORGE
Just for good measure
12.36 Perry Barr - TRAP 4
All the best

Plenty laid between 1.8 and 1.89 already on here for this 1/3 shot.

Where is Coroebus 4/5 to put in a double? I haven't seen that price all day. He is just about that on the exchange taking into account commission.
Baaeed 1/5, where?

Just a couple of small each way bets for me. nothing major. Man of Promise ew 4 places 15/1 in the Kings Stand...i guess i had too right lol.
and a very thin call on Aristia ew 4 places 20/1 in the Wolferton.
you got to really scroll down the paper to get to her but she busted up Alpine Star last year and had a nice enough warm up at York this year.
Juan Elcano is probably one of the better eachway bets this year but I'll take a chance with her. She's always hinted she might be capable of a bit more.
Not really that hopeful but I thought I could throw a few pounds her way.

First 8 covered by under 3 lengths. 3 or four of them might have won if they had the same pitch as the winner at half way-including my choice Berkshire Shadow who covered more ground than any of them.
