I’d imagine the stable staff tried a few forecasts and tricasts in that race. They will be going home with a few quid in their pockets tonight.

whenever he has a horse around the 7.8.or 9 to one mark, watch out, they always run well and often win

Stable in tremendous form at the moment.

I'd like to see what he can do with a decent horse or two....improves plenty of cast offs from others

Very good trainer imo, what's his background.

Close up third there at Lingfield, Winnetka, arguably a shade unlucky having to go five/six wide around the bend.
Big price on here to be 4th. His horses are racing. |

The problem I have with this stable is when they seem to me to be 'not racing'. There's surely a reason they can win off specific handicap marks?
|

exactly stu, Carroll is very good at knowing a horse's 'winning' mark and acts accordingly.

Surely every non-classic/ non-group.predominantly lower rated and thus lower aspiration stable operates that way. How else could they survive?
I get the impression that his stable has been underperforming and that consequently his horses are on good marks anyway. His one years stats are below his five year and with 5 winners in the last week looks to be on the up and well worth staying with. |

I take it " Second Collection's" 4-39 Southwell mark was to high then hence the drift and the run .

You of course are "free" to take any view you wish.

A blinkered first time and reject from Appleby...... Anyone lay all 17

He operates a scatter gun approach but is successful in the amount of winners, especially on the A/W

I was at Hereford races on the same day as the Grand National, around the mid nineties, I think.
In the first race of the day a horse trained by Tony Carroll wore what I can only describe as a pair of sheepskin paint rollers on its face. I'd never seen the like before. Apparently they originated in France. The rest is history. |
