tote guarantee sp. if that is so they would've all paid under so not sure how long this can last.
Report Gull1 January 26, 2022 12:25 AM GMT
The tote has been paying, more or less the exact starting price for some time now.

I cant believe this has not caused more comment. It is obviosly not pool betting any longer.

Seems a strange decision. The 2 outsiders at Leicester yesterday would surely have paid a lot more in the pool option.
Particularly the first winner which had absolutely no form at all.

well obviously they weren't paying more hence the SP price match guarantee came into play.

This is what it says on their website:

What is Tote Guarantee?

Tote Guarantee means we will always pay at least SP on Win bets.
Where the Tote dividend is greater than SP, you’ll get paid the bigger amount.
Tote Guarantee applies to Tote Win and win part of each way bets on all UK & Irish races.
Available online at Tote.co.uk/Tote.ie and via our Tote app.

Note the last line, which seems ambiguous. Does this guarantee apply to all Tote win bets, or only to those placed via their site/app?
Report swiftynifty January 26, 2022 12:06 PM GMT
TheAnorak, that is ambiguous and there have been mentions on here of the price guarantee not being honoured from some outlets. Available on course which I'm surprised the on-course books haven't complained about more.

I was at Plumpton a few weeks ago, a fav won and returned 5/2 S.P. On course the nanny paid £3.50, in the shops it returned £2.80.

Perhaps they should have a look at their exacta dividends as well.

Yesterday 14.20 @ Leicester.

1st Walk In Clover 2/9 FAV

Tote exacta - £1.20

Shocked

Do people on here actually use the Tote?
Report longbridge January 26, 2022 1:49 PM GMT
Personally, just for fun small-stakes Placepots at big meetings where I'll bewatching all the races and want some interest in races I'd not otherwise be betting in.
Report swiftynifty January 26, 2022 1:52 PM GMT
Yes, why not? Bookies accounts restricted. You pay PC on here. Or you're at the races, in hospitality, nice and comfortable. Do you venture down to the ring to see all boards the same, card's been marked all day by Betfair, and none offering a best price guarantee.
Report sparrow January 26, 2022 2:20 PM GMT
I don't pay PC unfortunately but well done if you do, swifty.
Report SlippyBlue January 26, 2022 2:32 PM GMT
When I go racing then I do try and get there in good time to have a decent bash at the placepot. I don't use the tote for any other of their products.

As swifty says though, for casual punters plotted up in hospitality for the day it makes sense to have the win bets on the tote if they're not into the exchange or looking at the ring to nick a fraction here and there.
Report sparrow January 26, 2022 2:36 PM GMT
I don't pretend to understand using the Tote other than the odd placepot bet. If I go to the course then I have my phone for using betfair.
