Going back to my greyhound training days now. The best to be sure of getting on was to have an "arrangement" with a track bookie before racing. Told him how much I wanted on and was guaranteed best price shown. Worked well for both of us as you got on at the right price.
Nothing worse than someone taking your price after getting the dog ready.
