george ...you seem to know all the answers......are you saying we should have waited for 2 3 4 5 years before we started giving people the vaccine....tells  us what you think should be done... masks   .... no  masks...social distancing was that not needed.....just tell what you would have done??

Not at all, Jinxy1, but I have been "following the science".

Just like the government claimed they were doing...until, er, the JVCI refused to rubber stamp jabs for kids.

After EVENTUALLY recommending jabs for 16 and 17 year olds, Johnson told us we had to listen to these people, they know what they're talking about!

Funny how he then didn't listen to them about jabs for kids, innit? Shocked

I can still feel the jab/vaccine in my left arm despite nearing 6 months since 2nd jab. On the occassion times I felt a bit lethargic and a slight aching arm. Maybe I'd mild Covid then - the jab was minimising the effect.

Jinxy1

Why did Johnson tell us we had to listen to the JVIC regarding the jabbing of 16 and 17 years old, but then ignored them when it came to the jabbing of kids?

No waffle, or vague statements like "listen to the world", try giving a straight answer, please.

This is a very worrying thread. I am agreeing with portmanpark on something.

It is very easy to make comments on a thread where your suggestions are not going to be responsible for potentially a lot more people losing their lives.

The general consensus is that many lives would have been saved had the government not pandered to the libertarians. Freedom is not a great concept to anyone who is dead. Even now what is the hardship to occasionally wearing a mask? It isn't a big deal at all.

Can't see a GP round here unless you want a jab, so every other ailment bar covid, yes, survival of the fittest. Why is it now ok to let cancer heart disease and any other illness we used to get treated for run wild?

The scary thing is there are more people not wearing a mask predominantly in the supermarkets or enclosed environment despite high death and infection rates. The belief "I'm okay Jose" is in the ascendency perhaps until another lockdown.

Jesus wept, you can't even get the age range right. Tell you what Jinxy1, come back when you've grown a brain. Cheers.

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/jcvi-statement-september-2021-covid-19-vaccination-of-children-aged-12-to-15-years/jcvi-statement-on-covid-19-vaccination-of-children-aged-12-to-15-years-3-september-2021

Overall, the committee is of the opinion that the benefits from vaccination are marginally greater than the potential known harms (tables 1 to 4) but acknowledges that there is considerable uncertainty regarding the magnitude of the potential harms. The margin of benefit, based primarily on a health perspective, is considered too small to support advice on a universal programme of vaccination of otherwise healthy 12 to 15-year-old children at this time. As longer-term data on potential adverse reactions accrue, greater certainty may allow for a reconsideration of the benefits and harms. Such data may not be available for several months.

Oh, so a typo made it 12-16 instead of 12-15 and you claim I dont have  a brain.

Go and fcuk yourself George B.

As previously advised by JCVI, persons aged 12 to 15 years with specific underlying health conditions that put them at risk of severe COVID-19, should be offered 2 doses of Pfizer-BNT162b2 vaccine with an interval of 8 weeks between doses. This currently includes children with severe neuro-disabilities, Down’s Syndrome, underlying conditions resulting in immunosuppression, profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD), severe learning disabilities or who are on the learning disability register. Details regarding additional person-groups with underlying health conditions to be offered vaccination will be provided as updates in the Green Book.

Children and young people aged 12 years and over who are household contacts of persons (adults or children) who are immunosuppressed should be offered 2 doses of Pfizer-BNT162b2 vaccine on the understanding that the main benefits from vaccination are related to the potential for indirect protection of their household contact who is immunosuppressed. The offer of vaccination may help to alleviate stress and anxiety experienced by the children and young people living in these difficult circumstances. This advice is provided recognising that persons who are immunosuppressed are at higher risk of serious disease from COVID-19 and may not generate a full immune response to vaccination themselves[footnote 10].

Further data and experience relevant to the vaccination of otherwise healthy persons aged 12 to 15 years are accumulating. The current epidemiology of COVID-19 in the UK is also changing rapidly. JCVI considers these factors important in determining the overall harm-benefit balance related to the vaccination of healthy 12 to 15 year olds. JCVI will continue to review emerging data and provide further advice in a timely manner.

In all instances, the offer of vaccination to children and young people must be accompanied by appropriate information to enable children and young people, and those with parental responsibility, to be adequately appraised of the potential harms and benefits of vaccination as part of informed consent prior to vaccination.

And this is also what they said, please take note corporate drug pushers like portmanpark.

As longer-term data on potential adverse reactions accrue, greater certainty may allow for a reconsideration of the benefits and harms. Such data may not be available for several months.

Where's your evidence that either of them work?

Deaths are above the five year average, worse than last year when there was no vaccine.

That is because people are still dying from non covid stuff and covid stuff or are you really that stupid? Feel free to post the figs from covid for deaths/hospital admissions,  comparing with last year - why not compare those states in the US that are strong on covid v those that exert their personal freedom to die fro it?
Can i suggest if you take any prescription drugs you read the leaflet that comes with it - including very mild stuff - and see how many are made ill/die from them and compare to those that have died/had serious issues as a result of the vaccine.

I don't expect you to do any of that!

What would be the point?

As deaths from covid have not been accurately recorded, who knows what the true figure is?

Recent ONS data shows that deaths are above the five year average, and this is not down to covid, even under their dodgy way of recording such deaths.
