Disagree with that rico. I still bet last 2 furlongs on lv from time to time, both flat and jumps and doing fine.

Can still bet last 2 furlongs if looks 'likely' winner imo...obviously if its clear cut then different story

I dont mean sub 1.1s when 2l clear or something but plenty races theres still a few in with a chance last furlong etc where you can still bet

Probably because vast majority you know will have been in the boxes with you with a huge advantage for years but theyre now getting found
out on a near level playing field. I'd be very surprised though, if all those that were in the boxes with you though,  that there wasnt still a couple
of them at least that are still winning backing.

They surely aint all losing just because its went levels for most

I'm only a small punter these days just enough to keep the brain ticking over and the majority of my betting (which itself is now mostly lays) is in-running. All bets done at home over not very high speed broadband using Racing TV or BLV and Betfair only software. I have to admit I'm also not very quick.

Although it's definitely got harder and much fewer gimmes, I still regularly make a profit so it can be done.

do you pay PC?
Report Lee Ho Fooks October 24, 2021 11:12 PM BST
Guess the "on average" will be how you don't pay PC
Report Rico-Dangleflaps October 25, 2021 12:34 AM BST
win £500 a week lose £400 net result +£100

you pay pc.
Report screaming from beneaththewaves October 25, 2021 12:55 AM BST
Win £100 one race, lose £97 the next, pay £2 commission on £3 of winnings, total charges are 67% of your profit, and no premium charge.

Do that over 28 in-running races a day, and you make £14/day, or £98/week, and no pc.

Haven't a clue whether that is how duffy operates.
Report dustybin October 25, 2021 9:29 AM BST
Think your working is wrong there screaming.

28 races, 14 wins 14 losses
Win 1400
Lose 1358
(While technically they pretend you don’t pay commission on losses, you effectively do as they half the amount of commission you actually pay)

Profit 42-28 = 14 quid a day (50p a race, where bf make a quid a race off you)
Having paid 28 commission in reality

(14/42)*100= 33.3% so no PC and you won’t live long enough to qualify for HRPC @40% requirement.

50p a race net and a bucket load of risk.
Report dustybin October 25, 2021 10:17 AM BST
* actually scrap that
It’s been years since I bothered looking and remembered they add market average on the losses before dividing it….which would make it close to streaming’s %

‘Implied’ or some other ethereal language.
They still take out more from you than you keep in the above example, having taken all the risk.
Report dustybin October 25, 2021 10:21 AM BST
They still use gross profit though in the calculation to determine whether you qualify for PC, which itself contains the commission they take from your winnings you never see.
Report Rico-Dangleflaps October 25, 2021 1:09 PM BST
if you pay 20% pc you need to turn over 1700% of your net winnings..

ie net win £100 you'd need to win £900 and lose £800 to avoid paying pc.

your 18 years means sh1t, last 2 years is completely different story, doesn't matter how good or bad you did in the past, it's different game now

I'm a backer, £5 and £10's, have a pre back override at 3 set at all times and a lay at 2.2, I never f&nny around mid race wondering whether to ask for fanciful prices and then wonder why I don't get matched, my thinking is that I'm good (lucky)enough over time to hit enough of the bigger prices anyway.

Profits come predominantly through the turf flat season, never paid a penny in PC.

As I said, the vast majority of what I win comes in a 6 month period with the jumps season  happy just to get through anywhere near even, perhaps that keeps me away from PC, 3 mile small field slow motion races are harder to catch anything in for me.

My total charges is 22.83% and it's been hovering around 22 for years.

re that scenario.if you are paying pc and have 10 winning weeks where your charges are less than 20% then you will pay pc..if you then for eg lose £1000..you can then win £1000 without incurring pc.
everyone in the forum wins and non pay pc..not sure where i went wrong Mischief
Report Lee Ho Fooks October 25, 2021 7:04 PM BST
It was when it happened to someone who's not paying PC that I was wondering about. I seem to remember that at one time you could have a losing week after a number of winning ones and that would strike off the winning ones with regard to PC (but I could be wrong).
Report Rico-Dangleflaps October 25, 2021 7:49 PM BST
no cos its dealt with on a week by week basis..if u won £1000 a week for 10 weeks you'd pay £200 (-charges) then if you lost £10,000 you can win that before pc is reapplied.
