I thought his ride on Kameko where it burst out of the stalls, led the rail, and had every chance of dictating the pace, then he yanked it back and subsequently lost, was very poor. Before that I'd been a big fan.
He obviously has huge mental issues and whilst I abhor how he is repeatedly letting racing (and his employers down - I thought when they so publicly backed him that they might regret it ) I feel sorry for him too. He probably can't change. |

Much less sympathy for him now he is no longer a teenager and should know better. I wonder who will be the jockey of choice for Balding next season if Oisin fails to come back? Fallon will get the Qatar racing rides but Probert might get the rest.

For Murphy to hand his license in, I’d say a ban is coming.
Probably caught again for drugs. Easy to just hand it in before he’s forced to anyway. |

What was the off-the cuff reference used by the wife of his retained trainer to describe him prior to his landing the retainer with the Sheikh? Something "primate" (I think).
Indeed. You'd relinquish something before it was taken away. The young man has got away with it too many times. I think the BHA have been ****-footing for fear of incurring the wrath of his well-heeled employer, and image of the sport; Mr Dunne got 18 months. |

It's actually an excellent piece by Richard Forristal, asking why no action was taken by the BHA for seven months after the breach of the permitted alcohol levels at Chester in May.
He also points out that it's not just in this country where he is seemingly being given some leeway / leniency, but also in France, highlighting the effective ban he received of three months, rather than the usual six, after they accepted his explanation for the cocaine positive test. He concludes by saying that Murphy's employer through Qatar Racing, has become one of Flat racing's most generous benefactors, and Murphy its poster boy. Treating him that way is serving no-one well. |

It appears that it is more than just a one off,but a much more regular occurrence.
He's not actually a brilliant jockey a good jockey and that's about it,thirty/forty years ago, he would have been a journeyman. |

Racingqueen, when you read the article, you get the sense that had it been a journeyman jockey, they would have had the book thrown at them by now, yet Murphy would appear to have been receiving 'preferential treatment'. Now why would that be?
And had they dealt with the Chester offence at the time, it's likely Buick would now be champion jockey. |

spot on George. And if Murphy had abided by quarantine rules he'd have ridden 5 fewer winners which again would've meant Buick would be champion.

should definitely lose the jockeys championship as he rode several winners during the days he should have been isolating

After the Gibbons judgement, I cant see any other way forward but for all jockeys to be tested everyday where they are competing.
Don't know how insurers work here but surely now they would insist on it before going near a jockey. Wouldn't they? |
