it is. Shared a cab from Cheltenham station to his hotel ( on the road up to the course) for the October meeting a good few years ago. I tried to pay my share. He refused. Said I'd pop in for a coffee as we were early. Offered to buy his. He refused and paid for mine and a quick heart-starter as well. Big Buck's one of the few horses whose photo is on my wall . Very very sad

I believe his son had a skiing accident and is paralysed from the waist down

He had some great horses and always campaigned in a punter friendly way. 70 is no age, RIP.

It's a shock because he always looked well for his age, slim, tanned and well groomed.

The report is rather vague about what happened, just saying complications had set in following a fall at his holiday home in Barbados.

donegal ....had similar memory . years ago i had no idea who he was . chatted , shared cab to racecourse in ireland . i paid taxi but he was not easily beaten down on this . seemed a lovely man .

Strange how people see things because I don't think I ever saw him when I thought he looked well. Never came across badly though, and as people have said these days 70 is no age.

Bloody hell,can't believe it,have had the room next to him and his wife for a few years now in November and March,always said hello and talked to his wife a lot as she was always outside having a ****,the whole family would be there and they just seemed very normal,wife always asked how we'd gone on and obviously talked about how they were getting more involved again,awful news.

That is sad news,always came across as a decent guy.

Really sad news, he was the kind of guy you could have a chat with and loved his racing, a huge loss to Paul as both a friend and owner.R.I.P...
