Race 5 - 3:40pm
THE BUBBLE PLUNGE LTD MAIDEN STAKES (CLASS 5) An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference inside the final furlong involving the winner, ALHEZABR (IRE), ridden by Jack Mitchell and LEXINGTON FURY (IRE), placed second, ridden by Thore Hammer Hansen. The Stewards considered that the interference had improved ALHEZABR (IRE)’s placing as the combined effect of a bump just inside the furlong marker which left LEXINGTON FURY (IRE) a neck down, a subsequent slight brush and being intimidated off its intended line of running a few strides from the winning post cost LEXINGTON FURY (IRE) more than the diminishing head by which it was beaten. The Stewards therefore revised the placings as follows: First, LEXINGTON FURY (IRE), Second, ALHEZABR (IRE). The interference was found to be accidental as ALHEZABR (IRE) shifted quickly left-handed despite the best efforts of its rider and thereafter was hanging badly. Wonder what they mean by 'despite the best efforts of its rider'
Jack Titchell has his whip in the wrong hand and uses twice in quick succession. If anything, he's done the total opposite of trying to fix it |
