Whoever that is on racing UK he's talking some amount of rubbish. Blaming the breeze on not knowing the result, whip in right hand oh no it was the wrong hand etc etc.

The runner up lost at least 1/2 a length as a result of the interference but finished a head behind
the winner. How has the interference not cost it the race?

carrot, so because he didn't make up the 1/2l he lost from being sideswiped in the last 100yds left, the aggressor should go unpunished. Can't have that.

carrot1960 17 Aug 21 16:47 Was there interference yes , did the interference effect the result 50/50 , well the runner up did have over a furlong to go past and he didn't
has the 2nd being knocked 2-3yds sideways cost it 6"? has to have.

if the bump was inside the last 50 yards then it would go, but it was over a furlong out, and accidental. Id keep the placings unaltered if I was a steward

Not only did the bump occur a furlong out the runner up only moved about a foot off its intended line , i suggest you take your own advice and get your eyes checked.

not sure why 'would not have gone past in another furlong' really should matter. If he was still being held by a short head for another furlong the facts are he lost a metre or more, became unbalanced and was beaten inches. a good decision.

and if this is the new direction of travel for UK stewarding then great, you don't penalise/eradicate bad riding by letting interference go unpunished.

how far out do we go with this ? a furlong out and lots think it should be reversed, and it was. What if it was 2f out,or 3f out,or even right after the start ? ? Is there a distance where it wont matter if there is a bump

TTT, in the UK it seems the stewards only bother watching the last couple of furlongs max. Plenty get wiped out early and nothing to see. Completely different in the US, stewards there watch the whole race, they earn their corn. There was that race a couple of days back the winner cut up the 2nd 2 out, then comfortably held on, no change, can't remember if they even looked.

TameTheTiger 17 Aug 21 16:55 if the bump was inside the last 50 yards then it would go, but it was over a furlong out,
you need to work the track angle out.
