Why don't they tempt them in with an apple or carrot?  I have seen this done once (in the Derby iirc).

It can be very bad and fcuks with all the others who have been installed and are behaving perfectly.  My pet hate is a horse going in hooded and the jockey meant to be taking it off with perfect timing.   yeah, right!  You never find out until they're going in by which time, if you're on, you know your luck is likely to be out.  Should be marked on the card like a hood, or blinkers are so as we know in advance.

2 tries to load from lowest to highest stall.

If wont load by 2nd time around then withdrrawn.

Would surely be less effing around, trainers would do what they need to.

This problem drives me nuts, why not try having the horses lad or lass go to the start and help it in the stalls as i assume the horse and lad/lass have some sort of trust and understanding what with seeing each other most days. Failing that employ some bigger blokes like they do in France and have less messing about.

Would be too many WD horses that way swaddle - esp for exchange markets (crazy reductions).

Better should be to have hefty fines for all trainers who have horses who cause the biggest problems with stalls.

Scroll along to 17.10.  One of the greatest of them all, "Dick" Hern trained them through stalls religiously.

I agree that too many horses are difficult to load and a time limit on each one needs to be imposed. 100 metre athletics sprints used to have endless false starts but once they imposed dq first time, it has almost been eliminated. I know horses are different but the same principle would apply. My biggest issue is with horses that won't go to the start. Any horse that is not at the post within 1 minute of the rest of them getting there should be out and that includes losing a shoe. I understand the stuff about non runner deductions but if the rules were tightened this nonsense would be greatly reduced as trainers would not declare the difficult ones. Have you seen any of the Olympic horses play up before the start of their event?

Nearly always rank outsiders that play up.

It would help it they started to load them BEFORE the off time. Guy at Redcar must've got his watch off Del Boy.
