To make it worse he has clearly eased down when in third. Now straight away the pundits will give us the usual guff of 'the old boy didn't deserve to be punished ' etc but that's nonsense. Dettori should be done for at least not riding out, but of course he wont.

Miles too far back but in truth he made no ground up when he got out, winner hands and heels all the way up the straight, best placed throughout in what looked a steady pace....easy in the end.

Come on guys. The bloke has won more top races by having his horse in the perfect position than any other jock over the last 20 years. He'll know he didn't give it the best chance to win but to call him a **** and demand apologies is way over the top.
No way would he have beaten the winner and to complain about him not beating the horse up for 3rd is again very unfair. I backed him, the punter is VERY important to the sport but is not the be all and end all like some seem to think. No one likes losing money but some of the reactions are way over the top.

He had a good bit of the straight to make up ground but just didn't seem to fire today. I thought he looked listless before the race. Not his usual ebullient self.

Clerkmore, I agree. I felt he looked listless in the preliminaries too. A bit too becalmed. Well, to give Frankie his due he more often gets it right than otherwise in these big races and Stradivarius surely doesn't owe any punter money. I suppose we all have this insatiable craving for history to be made and he had become such a favourite for racing fans over the past seasons.
Tomorrow is another day, as they say.

They are making all the excuses in the world for Frankie, but the fact is he shouldnt have been that far back and he shouldnt have let himself get boxed in like that either. Closer to the pace, and with a clear route chosen he wins comfortably, also disgusting that he didnt ride out for 2nd or 3rd for punters in placepots Etc
