How can it be that in 3-place market it's 43.8% and in 4-place market it's 39.21% .... doesn't seem right to me .... ??

I'd guess that there wasn't a massive difference between the price of 2nd fav in the two markets, given the shape of the race, but a much bigger difference between the two markets in the longer priced horses that were withdrawn. Also liquidity isn't great on the 4tbp market.
