My boys bet based on ladder activity, I don't have the liability capped so sometimes in a stewards or long photo I can end up with a load of bets stacked on one outcome and it makes or breaks the day's total

the backing of the Stoute horse from about 2.5 to about 1.5 can only have been a very clever profit-taker who layed the Stoute horse short either in the run or in the photo markets imv...

well done to whoever that was.

Eliminate such limited thinking as it will hurt your performance – there are a multitude of potentials why it could've happened.  Even in your one potential scenario the "clever" profit-taker would not be so clever to move the price so far so quickly, simply giving away too much value, letting it run if their bankroll could take the hit if it lost, dripping smaller bets out (iceberg order), or one big order offered at higher price and left there would all be far better options in the long run

Regardless, the real reason behind others bets in the market doesn't matter all that much, unless you are trying to adjust your strategy based on a pattern it's all irrelevant

ok i'm wrong then.

Not necessarily, try not to think in right/wrong, you will go further by thinking in maybe's,
If you are successful in this game you will have a good understanding of probabilities and the idea of expected value, such concepts are not absolutes

In fact those who think in absolutes usually pay those who don't
