Malta Backed her last week she has got in the final and I expect her to put up a good performance on the night and bring home the bacon. Her price has gone out because she is in the first half of the draw so you are now getting better price cash in Good luck Seaside
yep the UK will never win again. we could out up Dua Lipa, with only oak leaves to cover her essentials, and she'd still get stuffed out of sight.
nobody likes us and we don't care.

Let's see. these bampots have moved on from promoting a drag queen with a black beard. This year even "lgbt's" and "black lives matter" tw ats won't get a look in. It be deftly shovelled towards any fruitcake who claims to be "non-binary", likes to be called "they" and thinks Carey Mulligan is God's gift to the world.

No harm done having a laugh at our efforts every year.
Truth be told is that we have not had a decent entry for yonkers.

Produces a massive amount of air time for the BBC. Have been hours of Eurovision programs on BBC4 and Radio 2 all week. They probably think it's worth the money.

seaside 20 May 21 I cannot understand why Italy is fav it's a terrible song.
Agree it is a terrible song. However they performed well on stage and the pre comp 30 million streams was a big hint and why they were bookie favs.

could we rig it for next year!!....seems the biggest votes are from the general public....now if we were to all vote on the same song and also get others we know to vote on it as well, it could be bingo!...the inner won with just over 500 votes....now if we had 540 votes from the general public for the UK, which were at 300-1 we could have it right off!!...of course i might be talking utter shyte as i was on my third can of Red Stripe when they got round to the scores!

UK was 4/7 to give Lithuania 12pts - Greece/Cyprus and Russia/Moldova always give each other 12 past few years and there was deffo insider trading going on re Italys price -they were over 100 pts behind on jury vote and yet price quickly went into freefall
Its more bent every year and mekks horseracing look clean by comparison
P.S the jury votes had been decided on Friday evening in a full dress rehearsal for last nights events so clearly someone had a good inkling on what was going to transpire

Anyone that studies Eurovision knew that France and the Swiss needed a 100 point lead to hold off the Italian Televote.
They were 1.6 and it wasnt a suprise they went on to win it. France was the only possible winner after the Jury vote was in.

It wasnt seen but historically Italy get a lot in the televote section and the song itself was way ahead on stats showing number of views (youtube etc) , spotify , twitter stats .
France and Switzerland had great jury friendly songs but werent going to "grab" the first time viewers and the age group of people who would televote.
The view of eurovision punters was that Italy was always going to clean up a massive amount of televotes and it was a case of if they were close enough to a Swiss/France at the end of the jury section they were going to win it.
Having said that France almost pulled it off. If Italy had been 10 or 20 points closer at the end of the Jury vote they would have been 1.1 going into the televote.

It may be political but uk were the original 'bad boys' . When Abbas Waterloo won in 1974 , since been voted best ever Eurovision song , the Uk gave it nil points !!!! they were hoping olivia newton john would win. Never has , you reap what you sow , more deserving.....

I never understand why the UK moan about it. They put in rubbish year after year , then moan when they get 0 points. I think five countries last night got 0 Televotes so its not a case of the UK being picked on by the whole of Europe as they like to make out.

clueless. UK could enter Adele singing Hello - 2.8 billion views on youtube - she's still coming last. nobody votes for the UK, what part of 'they don't like us' are you struggling with ?

Hunt, it was a completely different voting system in 1974. Only 10 individuals from each contry got to vote, and they each gave 1 point to their favourite song - that was it (no 12/10/8/7/... etc. points). 1974 was probably the strongest contest ever - Waterloo didn't win by that much over strong opposition from Italy, the Netherlands and the UK.
Wallis - spot on. The UK's song was rubbish (one of the weakest we've ever put in), and poorly sung. It got what it deserved. Nevertheless, the way the low-scoring televotes were announced was brutal, and I hope that changes in future. In the past I think they just put up the scores for the 10 lowest scoring countries without making a fuss about it.

Hulk - you do know that music professionals make up half the voting? If the UK entered Adele and she sang one of her better songs, it would be highly competitive. Personally, I'd ask Dua Lipa to do it for the UK.

the "music professionals" that gave KEiiNO - Spirit In The Sky 2019 next to nothing, and then we sat back & watched the public giving them the competition by a country mile ? those "professionals" ?

Strontium I remember the 1974 competition and I know the voting system then...the fact is not 1 UK judge gave Abba A SINGLE POINT . Abbas song was so far the best that year which makes the UK judging very suspect especially the support that Olivia Newton John had.

Hulk, if you want to believe it's all some campaign against the UK, that's up to you. Nobody seemed to like Austria much until they put up an eye/ear-catching song and won in 2014. Nobody liked Portugal at all until they entered a quality song, well sung, and won in 2017. It may suit the UK to enter rubbish and say "we don't win because nobody likes us". But we could try taking the competition seriously for a bit and seeing what happens.
Hunt - Waterloo got 24 out of 160 possible points (or, 15% if you prefer), so it wasn't just the UK jury that didn't immediately warm to Abba. 85% of the voting jurors across the continent didn't think it was the best song.

strontium i think your memory might be playing tricks on you - back then there were 17 entries in the competition but only ten member jury's allowed to vote with only ten points per jury to play with and a maximum of 5 points being allotted to their winning song so therefore a max of 60 pts to play for so in the circumstances Abba with a score of 24 did exceptionally well - Italy finished 2nd on 18pts and so in reality Abba pished it

Sludge I never said anything about winning money , I was just answering the question of why they were 1.6.
Next year I will remember to send you my thoughts before the contest so as not to suffer one of your clever remarks rather than post them on other forums discussing Eurovision rather than Betfairs Horse Racing.
Strontium , I agree with everything you said and especially the way the "null points" was announced. You could see the presenters squirming and the cameras in the faces of those performers getting humiliated wasnt good tv.

can someone briefly explain the viewer votes/points/weighting etc? e.g if there were 1000 viewer points available and country weighting was at play how did that equate to Opts for several countries, surely they must have got some? Anyway, it's total rubbish and the voting rubbish just capped it off.

Countries only give points to 10 acts (12, 10 , 8 , 7 , 6 , 5 , 4 , 3 , 2 , 1)
With 26 competing and around 5 nations almost certainly getting points from every jury or televote there is really only about 5 countries from the remaining 21 that will get anything else.
If you look at the Televotes this year Italy got votes from every country , so did France and Ukraine. Finland got votes from all but one (Georgia) and the Swiss from all but 3 countries. So five of every 10 votes per country were taken up by those alone. That only left 5 possible scores for everyone else. With Iceland and Ukraine scoring with 30 of the 39 countries there was very little left to fight over for everyone else.
So if you had a poor / uninteresting song you were really going to struggle this year to get points from the viewers (televote) and also the Juries that look at presentation , vocal talent (so the more difficult to sing the better) etc...
