Everyone will be bashing the other jockeys but, let's be honest, we all thought she had gone off far too fast.
Report screaming from beneaththewaves February 2, 2021 3:11 PM GMT
The other jockeys must have thought she'd miscounted the circuits when she swept into the lead.
Report madhatter February 2, 2021 3:11 PM GMT
but these type of races are run at such a dawdle that you expend little energy to get that massive lead surely?
Report robo February 2, 2021 3:12 PM GMT
I don’t see the need for stewards , it’s not any way surprising. Look at the jockeys that rode in the race and you will see a pattern , there isn’t a jockey of any consequence amongst the lot of them . They’d all be work riders if they were in Ireland , so it’s not any way mind blowing
Report Bluebird2sing February 2, 2021 3:12 PM GMT
Imagine the rollicking the trainer would have given any jock who had tried to go with that tearaway. Easy to criticize after the event.

for what its worth the sectionals were saying fast down the back str & then slow turning in
but jumpers bumpers sectionals how much have you got to go on, worthless

fast for a jumpers bumpers probably walking pace for a flat hcap

No way she went off too fast, just appeared so given the lead she was given. Only went 15 in running?!?Shocked
Report Wesdag February 2, 2021 3:18 PM GMT
the other jocks might've thought she'd gone off too fast but that gap wasn't going to close by itself
Report Cantthinkofaclevername February 2, 2021 3:19 PM GMT
I agree it was not a great bunch of jockeys but say a couple of these including the one you picked took the Steward on. They would most likely all got each other beat leading to something winning from off the pace. Would you be saying well done jockey, you didn't give the Steward an easy lead. I think not!
Report wondersobright February 2, 2021 3:21 PM GMT
all a jockey can do is ride their own horse at even pace
needing cover because a horse pulls or doesn't do much in front complicates things but even pace is the objective
what others do is up to them
Report jamesdean February 2, 2021 3:22 PM GMT
The horse had ran another 5f extra before the race at the start
Report asparagus February 2, 2021 3:22 PM GMT
If the other jockeys go even splits then she'd gone too fast but quite clearly they were going much slower than even splits, so whilst she may have been going a bit too fast she was always likely to hold on unless  bolting to the start had taken too much out of her. That was the one thing that made it hard to assess for in running. Undoubtedly those other  jockeys should be hauled in. ATR incredibly inept with their analysis (or lack of)
Report Wesdag February 2, 2021 3:22 PM GMT
needs at least 5 miles
Report robo February 2, 2021 3:23 PM GMT
So the jockey stays where he is , thus handing the race to the leader , and you say well done jockey , at least you didn’t chase the pace . Mother of Jesus , what kind of logic is that
Report Cider February 2, 2021 3:27 PM GMT
Freak situation, they would have to have not allowed it to get away so early, but who was going to ruin their race chasing down one early that bolted to post and near bolted from the off.
Report robo February 2, 2021 3:29 PM GMT
Who’s to say the horse who chased it down would not have won ?, why can’t a horse who chases down a clear leader not win ?

Report Cider February 2, 2021 3:30 PM GMT
As 99.99% of them would burst going that pace.
Report Cider February 2, 2021 3:32 PM GMT
It's easy in hindsight like most things, the winner had every right to have stopped half way round, nudging 40 MPH at times in the first few furlongs.
Report mickwheblembe February 2, 2021 3:32 PM GMT
What a bunch of second rate jockey idiots all of them except the winner should all be banned for at least a week or longer how can this race riding be considered fair to punters ,BUT WITH THEVWEAKEST ORGANOSATION IN ANY SPORT THE BHA YOU KNOW NOTHING WILL BE DONE,Because those running the BHA are worse at any honest decisions that protect punters
Report robo February 2, 2021 3:33 PM GMT
40 mph is funny
Report potlis February 2, 2021 3:36 PM GMT
As if they would have ridden any differently if it hidden bolted down at the start, no, it would have just won by even further with the others still looking on.

Report Cider February 2, 2021 3:48 PM GMT
You're not going to sacrifice your own chances to drag the field into the race when it's extremely likely the one that took off will stop. Might not ride for the connections again.

We won't see over 200 reported deaths in the UK again on a single day, unless it's a backdating of missing data.
Report robo February 2, 2021 4:13 PM GMT
So stay where you are and connections give you the ride the next day , even though you’ve never given their horse the slightest chance of winning .that’s very likely scenario

That was in June, at the end of the first wave when we were still facing onerous restrictions and lockdown obsessives wanted to stop the unwinding of restrictions. Obviously I didn't mean forever, as it is a seasonal virus. Not that it has anything to do with this thread.

Deaths involving COVID-19 in hospitals as a proportion of all deaths in hospitals increased to 61.6% in Week 3 (from 57.5% in Week 2). Deaths involving COVID-19 in care homes accounted for nearly half of all deaths in care homes in Week 3 (46.6%), an increase from Week 2 (36.0%).
