Report FELTFAIR November 6, 2020 9:43 PM GMT
Replicated his win at Goodwood by not having the pace to compete early on but picked his way through the field to stay on strongly as he did at Goodwood. The winner has won readily by 3L and if anyone thinks that Battleground should have won is deluding themselves.
Report sparrow November 6, 2020 9:43 PM GMT

impossible123, the arch Ryan Moore cyber bully has arrived. It`s a horse race with at least x6 Group 1 winners from America and Europe competing and Magical has had an unbelievably busy season so if she loses it will not be because of the jockey.

I remember Dancing Brave failing in the Breeders Cup and better horses than Magical have met the same fate.

Agreed Feltfair, Tarnawa would have won the Arc IMO, I think she'll win and it won't be Moore's fault.

Would he have won on Battleground if he'd been prominent in the running? Perhaps, but I don't think he was massively unlucky, or that Battleground is THAT exciting for next year. I don't see it winning a Guineas.

Report layemall November 7, 2020 11:38 AM GMT
Is not easy to conclude that he couldn't have gone the pace early as Moore seemed to make little effort to try and get his horse closer. As a result after half a furlong he was shuffled back a little and by the bend he was not in a great position(about 3-4 wide) and about 5-6 lengths off the leader. The leader and the 3rd into the bend were drawn 8 and 7 (Moore drawn 9) and were the eventual 3rd and 1st, Battlegound beaten 3 lengths. Hindsight is 20-20, but I suspect if he had rousted his mount more vigorously out of the stalls he might have been 2-3 lengths closer to the leader around the bend, having a clearer route through and then who knows? I did not have a bet in the race but it does make you wonder how a jockey of his experience would not foresee the problems if he at least didn't make an effort to get closer from the start....

I am a big fan of all jockeys who risk their lives for our entertainment and that applies to Ryan Moore who for some reason attracts more abuse than any other jockey. Persistent criticism of one individual amounts to bullying after a while and I have always taken a stand against it and even more so these days when mental health is such an important issue.

By the way i am not embarrassed at all.

i think he has regressed as a rider due to the Coolmore connection. Julian Muscat wrote a very preceptive article last year in which he said that RM is encouraged to "ride for luck". Coolmore have many horses in big races and often can "sacrifice" some to make the pace. RM is no doubt informed of this and rides accordingly. Because so many of their horses improve massively from run to run (as they are bred and trained to) he often gets beat. By them as well as other stables. He has become obsessed with this style of riding. I really do believe that if, for example, he took over from FD at JG's in a year or so, he may improve again and get back to where he was. In the meantime, tbh, I think he is a liability at the odds he rides at.

perhaps rather then negativity surrounding moore it's better to say that many other jockeys (notably PC) are riding way better than him over past 2-3 years, the out the back and then push/drive for home wide round the bend that occasionally works at sandown when you're on the best by far (usually Stoute handicapper) horse style just doesn't work stateside nor ascot/goodwood etc -

Ed the tw*t off ITV will always call this fraud ‘the greatest jockey in the world’. IMO even at his best he was nowhere near anything great - basically he’s better than his brothers and sister and that’s about it. Other than that he’s basically an ‘also ran’ that was totally overrated - nothing more positive than that to say about the bloke.

SeeMoreBusiness the abuse is coming from San Quentin not you.

Re your post I neither agree or disagree. Ballydoyle is full of bluebloods and it seems inevitable that the presumed stable number one horse gets turned over from time to time. When betting I focus on the horse not the jockey based on the assumption that the best horse on the day will nearly always win irrespective of the jockey. Obviously in sprint races and on certain tracks e.g Goodwood the best horse does not always win but usually in those circumstances if the horse is good enough gaps will appear allowing the horse to make a winning run.

When watching races I like to see x4 basic elements which are for a horse to settle, travel, quicken and battle and there are few better than Ryan Moore to deliver these especially the battle element.

Generally all jockeys lose over 80% of the time, Frankie being an exception as he picks and chooses when he`s going to ride. Ryan Moore is no exception to the 80% rule but seems to attract more criticism than any other jockey for some reason. At the Breeders Cup Frankie, Oisin Murphy, Colin Keane and lots of top american pilots have ridden and got beaten but not a word. Having said that none of the afore mentioned warrant criticism given that their horses were not good enough on the night.

You think Ryan Moore risks his life for *OUR* entertainment?

Moore became a jockey for many reasons (eg born into a racing family, financial rewards), but I would think "for our entertainment" is some way down *HIS* list, if it is on there at all.

No-one is going to disagree with you that what they do is potentially very dangerous, but that doesn't mean their riding should be exempt from scrutiny or criticism, within reason.
Report Newmarket-spurs November 7, 2020 9:44 PM GMT

My advice to Ryan Moore would be this: You need a break. Take a couple of months of and spend time

doing other things . Come back refreshed and it doesn't matter if you've lost the job with 'The Boys'

as you can freelance and maybe start to enjoy racing again instead of it being a chore.

fair play Feltfair. Thanks for the response. I think there are few jockeys that I am sure can improve a horses chances. RM isn't one of them these days sadly at the odds (not his fault of course) Mostly it's just the horse, ground, distance and draw. I am biased towards jockeys with a little more tactical awareness than RM. I think he has become one dimensional. He's not the only one of course. But, hey ho. I do think he'd benefit from a change though. I think his absence from Ireland for unfortunate reasons has changed things. It may be that Keane will usurp him in time. I think he'd be better if he were doing a Frankie and riding every Pancake Tuesday on good Gosden things. We'll see. Good luck
