screaming from beneaththewaves • August 18, 2020 5:15 PM BST Closing the market makes them money - punters can't offset their commission. Betfair know exactly what they're doing. They think they know what they're doing but the liquidity is far lower in the specials markets so new players cba. I take your point, but not only do betfair keep all the commission from the original market, but they get a whole new lot from punters like Virgin, laying off. They'd lose all of that if they kept the original market open. |

By:
I know that, i just think that they don't make more.

yes screaming, double bubble for BF this way

yet they settle beverley 30 seconds after a stewards is announced.... work that one out please... |
|
By:
Betfair can just do what they like. What is there to stop them?

the commission they will make from the 'will it keep the race' market is pennies imv...
it's bonkers settling plain and simple... |
|
By:
We'll never know for sure, dave. But after 20 years of profit, betfair should know by now which one does better for them - original market or new market.
|
|
By:
No financial interest but I honestly think that's a terrible decision.

By:
Betfair have effectively had an extra tenner outa me
Less the £4 PC |
|
By:
I would hazard a guess that 99% of punters wouldn't even know about the To Keep It markets
|
|
By:
well they don't do it all the time only when an idiot is managing the market not a genius

did you get matched virgin?

By:
Betfair will simply lose customers in the long term but these companies never think for the long term.

wd again willie..you're rarely wrong.

unlucky virgin

How do we know it's not the idiot who lazily just re-opens the original market? It might be the genius who's the one who closes it and sets up a new one to rake in more commission.

the winning distance was a head, not a neck as stated by one of the earlier poster .In an enquiry that makes a big difference.
