Owning Race Horses presents no 'Value' for the normal working individual.Clubs and Partnerships give a lot of fun, without breaking the bank.'Fun' is how it should be taken as not many make any money, even with the help of an occasional punt. Even the big owners would lose loads if not for the Breeding side of things imo

you need to decide how much you want to spend and tell yourself that you will probably see none of it again. wouldn't put anyone off but financially that's the way it is.

My pal has always been happy with Hambleton.

Where are you living and what are you looking for in ownership?

I was in a syndicate of 8, in which we all put in £2k which bought the horse 'Crossed Wire' Abdullah cast off at Tatts Oct 2001 for approx £7k.It pissed up at Wolverhampton in May 2002 by 18 lengths @ 12/1, Bookies gave me £5k for that and Gary Wiltshire kindly laid me a £4500 to £2000 a week later, when it got stuffed by a Jimmy Quinn 20/1 shot lol.We had to pay in another £1000 to cover on going training until Oct 2002.One of the members bought us all out for £500 each, because he wanted to breed from her.Costs for the year and 8 runs were £24k+ including any prize money. We were lucky as come out a bit down for loads of Fun and a trip to Royal Ascot as owners where she finished 3rd last in the Ascot Stakes of 2002. As I say we were lucky, but plenty come out loads down but as long as you treat it as a bit of Fun and prepared to lose a few grand then it is great.General training fees are well advertised by trainers but there are plenty of extras that come into the equation but would have thought it would cost £35k+ to keep a horse in training let alone the original cost of the horse.
