Wrong the dealer but right as you said,already discussed.Only ONE pool for Ascot,the other meetings are as per normal Tote UK. HTH and Pisspot 3 places 7+ runners and 1st 3 regardless if 33 runners in a handicap for Ascot.

Nice idea to join the pools together but to change the placing rules that have been the same for years and years is risky. It will alienate many long-term players and risk ending up with some very unhappy punters. Imagine missing out on a big pot because you had the 4th in a 28-runner handicap!

Agree jamee1,already discussed but you are correct,the morons i.e New owners harping on about liquidity etc are fukcing deluded in their ambition to attract high end punters.The TOTE is a means for the masses and no more,never has been and never will be.A simple licence to print money due to the takeout but these morons have learned NOTHING from multiple jurisdictions,those they have now invited into the "Superpool".

The liquidity might increase but the dividends will be only a fraction better at best even without the On Course books and returned "Industry SP",note how they are saying other jurisdictions bet more on exotics than win or place as part of their advertising? It is fact but means nothing other than their takeout will increase,next week it will be situation normal and downhill from there for the NANNY.

Superpools have been created to reflect the super-sized pools generated from international co-mingling between pool betting operators around major race meetings.

The World Pool was introduced at Royal Ascot last year with great success, as total pool turnover enjoyed a 415 per cent year-on-year increase, while the win pool for the 2019 Diamond Jubilee Stakes exceeded £1 million.

One important rule change to note for the duration of Royal Ascot for those betting into the pools is that the Tote will be paying on three places only for races with seven or more runners regardless of whether it is a handicap or not.

This change impacts all bets, whether a World Pool or not, and includes place, Quadpot, Placepot and Scoop 6 bets.

This rule change is not permanent and will not be a standard Tote or World Pool rule for future events.

£110K isn't alot for a world pool unless they add the other pools after the 1st race

No confusion if your betting in the Placepot atAscot you will be in the Super Pool.

I don't think we have a choice Sonko, I think we are in the superpool placepot and there is no normal placepot for Ascot

a guy in Australia I think put 1.3 million into the pool by mistake and never cracked it

I think this will put off quite a number of people who enjoy this bet, the pool sizes will drop off

I had it today for £2,but feel a bit cheated had the 4th in the opener,god knows what the thinking is behind changing the place rules.

It is to fit in with the other jurisdictions Barrowboy,their systems not geared up for 4 places,the only upside is the 3 places for 7 runner races,that said only a tiny percentage of the PP is contributed by them.

Why the hell do they do this? The rest of the world do not comprehend the placepot.

This is not right for the Placepot at Ascot as HK is not betting into a Placepot pool and therefore the 1st four in the big 16-runner plus handicaps should stand as normal. Yes, commingling creates obvious liquidity and revenue for Ascot, but there is a distinct feel of the tail wagging the dog here. Hong Kong is running exotic pools on Ascot that the host venue does not (the Double Trio for example), therefore why should a pool it does not contribute to need to be altered?

.. Not sure why ivynook but as you will know it is only for the duration of the ASCOT meeting.

The " worldpool" / " superpool hasnt been promoted enough imo.

Co mingling is contrary to best advice for Social Distancing and exotics are not permitted in most jurisdictions or did I read wrong and the WHO recommend erotics and and mingling as a form of exercise?

Surely the global managers at tote to promote their business all over the world have failed, if they got part of asia in on it then it could had been massive.

Think their was 370k in the pool today, usually 600K+ and at cheltenham it nears £1m. Maybe the oncourse punters do put in over half of the pool. Always thought it was serious punters who made the pool bigger away from the track.
