covid steve only reports what suits his cataclysmic agenda.

he omits to mention that the ferguson modelling put swedens death toll at 40,000 by may 1st without a lockdown.

I suspect they've had our pants down and we'll be paying for years to pull em back up.

sweden may very well suffer few deaths from economic poverty and other diseases etc. later
while many other countries with lockdowns will suffer less virus deaths now but tens of thousands
in the years to come from those causes

thats only a spurious supposition.

Its all superposition!! Second peaks mean nothing if the first peak didn't do the harm that it was predicted to do. I think the Uk has been compliant to this point because of the generous furlough scheme. Apparently a lot of people are better off as they save the cost of travel to work and childminding. The government is proposing to reduce its contribution at the end of June and you may well see a different attitude.  A friend of mine who work for a big accounting firm that does valuations on retail properties told me that a lot of retail companies are expecting real problems when they return and any return of this over the winter period that effects xmas trade will wipe them out. The demand for things like jewellery, high end clothes etc is expected to be very low. Public opinion will soon turn against the government if the economy takes too big a hit and the tories are well aware of this.

I think public opinion will quickly go against this government. They have tried to be all things to all people and failed. They started off with their herd immunity plan which soon turned in to 2 month of lock down. They really cannot afford to let the economy crash. I never thought Labour would ever get in again in my lifetime but with the way this is going I can see the tories getting shafted (excuse the pun) Willie.

The tail (media) has been wagging the dog on every decision.

Will always be a struggle when the people making the decisions have no clue what home life reality is. When you have money, you become corrupt with money, when your a millionaire how can you possibly understand what the average Joe has to put up with.

Thats the point isn't it Dealer. Isolating in your country house where the police can't knock on your door leaves the experience a little easier than a family in a flat or small house. Your next door neighbour won't be grassing you for going to the shops more than once a week and you won't be needing to look for a job at the end of it.

Well said Truehoncho!  Nor do they feel the disbelief of the repeated collapsed world of the lower class working poor, from job to job many of them, how can any uneducated Girl or Boy possibly pay into a Pension knowing their job is never gonna be safe?

The virus may not know your status, but your status definitely impacts on how it affects you. It's easy to make decisions to lock people down if the impact on you is minimal.

Should the cabinet have gone to live on council estates for a few months before making a decision?

Its apparent by now its only really effecting people who fit certain criteria, elderly people, and people with predetermined/undetermined heath problems with reduced immunity,i only know of 1 person thats allegedly succumbed to c19...the problem being is,if the government didnt introduce a lockdown the carriers who it isn't effecting would spread it to those it would, resulting in many more deaths...im aware many health workers/doctors have lost their lives but did these have undetermined low immunity caused by other problems?,there are millions of health workers but only a minor % have realistically succumbed.
i'm still waiting for one of the doylems who've ignored the restrictions to suffer any consequences.

its now lockdown in name only...the country is pretty much doing what they want as regards socialising.

the whole thing is turning into a farce with the lockdown terms nothing more than a political football

Should the cabinet have gone to live on council estates for a few months before making a decision?  --  I suppose it is a reflection on who we vote in to govern us. Regardless of whether the decision is right or wrong I would like to think the people making it have some empathy with those that are affected by it. For many years now I believe the political classes have very little regard for those that vote them in. Promise everything to get elected (like the silly labour campaign) and deliver very little.

I agree it's capitalism but to put 200 people on a plane when police are sending drones over car parks in the peak district and preventing groups on beaches is unfathomable.

so capitalism allows the airlines to act carte blanche but shops have to adhere to the government guildlines? Capitalism allows/encourages you do do anything to make money within the law. The law can always be interpreted differently if you have enough money or influence.
