I am at Huntingdon just about to go in the betting shop as I fancied one at another course I look down and see some notes bend down and as I am about to put them in my pocket these two blokes say to me thats my money I said I just drop it so it can't be yours. Have a little count up and there's £50 in the betting shop I go and put the £50 on a 5/1 winner. That's what you call Karma you do good for someone it comes back to you one way or another.
About 35 years ago I went out from work with my shop takings, had a decent time if it, got home paid the taxi from my wallet I was stopping ay my sisters at the time, went to work only find I had no wallet!, rang my sister she searched high and low for it, no wallet! I rang the taxi company, no chance, there must have been 30 people in taxi after you. About 9.30 I get a call from a woman and it goes ''mr greenfield "? "yes "have you lost any thing lately" "yes a wallet" "and how much was in the wallet?" buy this time I'm sure I'm being wound up by who ever found it. "Who is this"? says I. ''its Hammerton Road police station, some one has just handed your wallet in". There was over £400in cash in the wallet and I thought no identification, there was a small remnant of a dental card with which they rang up the dentist and got my phone number. I got a taxi straight round to the chap who found it, and he told me he had found the wallet on the floor in the road (where I had dropped it after alighting the taxi),and he had looked inside it,couldn't find an address so gave it to first copper he found. The funny thing about this is that we ended up arguing about a reward!, he insisted it was my money and that he was glad it was with its rightful owner,I insisted that he should take anything out of it,as I had written it off and it was down to experience,in the end he took a tenner off me!.just to get rid of me, thank you Mr Harrison. Since then I have found 3 wallets and purses, all handed in, I wonder if i would have handed them in if Mr Harrison had not handed mine in?.

I was under ten when took back my grandads empty mackerson bottles to the off licence to get some sweets and found a pound note on the floor of the shop, being brought up to always be honest I announced what I had found to the shopkeeper and gave it to him half expecting him to reward my honesty, he did he gave me a shilling back and stuck it in his pocket.
I've never forgotten that day although I have found tenner and twenty on the floor in the betting shop that went straight in my pocket and recently was out the front sweeping my drive when a gust of wind blew a twenty right into my broom. noone about kept that as well.
Wife found 20 quid on floor at a shopping centre and made her way to police station and handed it in. Copper took her name and told her to keep it and that will be in touch if anyone comes in to claim it no one did surprisingly

A while back I was walking my dog and, crossing a quiet road, saw an open wallet on the ground.
Picked it up. Looked inside. No cash but there was a donor's card, library card and four bank/credit cards.
Thought I'd take it to the police station when I saw a sales receipt with an address.
It was only around the corner so I thought I'd take it there. When I was stuffing the receipt back in, I noticed another
small piece of paper. On this paper was a list of the bank/credit cards and, next to each one, was the corresponding pin number.
I think I'm reasonably honest but.... how tempting was this! Anyway, found the house, knocked on the door and a woman answered.
I explained that I had found the wallet, etc. She said, "I'll see he gets it." Then slammed the door in my face - and I mean slammed!
Not a "thank you" or anything.....

I found a pay packet on the side of a road around 20 years ago Think there was around £300 in it, no notification on it just a brown envelope with wages in it. Took it to police station never heard anything else about it. Policeman thanked me but looked confused about me handing it in Just told them where I’d found it incase someone reported it lost.

One Christmas I was found myself walking behind this guy who put his wallet in his back pocket but the way he did it looked very strange with the wallet ending up on the floor so I pick it up and said here you are you dropped this that's my good deed for the day I had a look inside the wallet and to my eye there was noting in it when I handed it over to him he said thank's there is a lot of money in there. Just Googled it and it seems it's some sort of scam.
Dodging the Dropped Wallet Scam 2 years ago Save
I almost hesitate to post this, but figure it might help someone out (BTW, snarky remarks will get reported to TA). First, I am no naive person: I have traveled to over 100 countries, managed Paris' subway pickpocets including those in the infamous Gard du Nord, escaped a coup d'etat and been frog marched to a small South American town with an M16 pointed at my back.
However, despite my experience I got caught up (I think?) in the Dropped Wallet scam. Almost. :) Last Thursday night, it was snowing like crazy and I was making my way back to the hotel through Sofiskiya Square when I saw a wallet drop out of a man purse a guy 10 metres in front of me was fiddling with. The square was pretty empty, too. It was dark, I was cold, hurrying etc. but despite that I picked it up (Hey - I am Canadian - we are a polite people :) ). The instant I did that my Spidey Senses tingled but I called (in Ukrainian) to the guy and he appeared grateful to get it back, shaking my hand etc. Or so it seemed. We exchanged a few pleasantries in Ukrainian (my language skills are pretty good although I am told I have a Western Ukraine/Polish accent so that might have been the tipoff to him) and then bid him goodnight in Russian. As I walked away he grabbed my arm and asked "Where is the other wallet?" - in English! Then I knew it was time for something fancy. So I switched to speaking Spanish, a language in which I am 100% fluent and proceed to tell him I did not understand and suggested a few rude things he might do to his mother. A couple of mean stares and I beetled out of there. I was not followed.
The moral of the story: DO NOT PICK UP ANYTHING in a public place. Not even an infant. Also, the scam is likely everywhere and any time, not just the Maidan. As they say in Latin: "Tornacense cave"!!
