I had thought that with lead on and AIS cracking the identity of the race that the answers would be easily guessed, but maybe I over estimated peoples memories, after all 1979 isn't that long ago is it....?

gibberish, by solving the anagrams you then move onto the questions, lead on already answered Q1 which identified that the anagrams relate to the 1979 Epsom Derby which was the 200th won by Troy, all the other questions then relate to said race and runners, the numbers on the anagrams being the saddle cloths the respective horses carried ie no number 10 or 21.

Yes they are the only anagrams to get and not surprisingly three of them were 500/1 shots which helps explain why they are more difficult to remember as we probably all ignored them on the day.

I have a vague recollection that Bishop Auckland was a jumps stable but it's not coming to me - I'm guessing that's not just the Northern horse but the Champion Hurdle winning trainer.

Never heard of him - I'd only been into racing about a year at that point and I can still remember quite a bit, though I can't recall Hardgreen's colours at all.

The colours I have are grey body, yellow sleeves with a grey and yellow checked cap, can't say I recall said owner or colours though
