Makbe Diva is right,i never seen anything like that re getting caught with the feet like that.
So unfortunate and iwas harsh on him(JM), saying that he didn't realise how far he was in front and still think he need not have been going so fast into it.
What a super horse.

his pressing caused the horse to jump when it did. that then caused the horse to become unbalanced. this caused the overreach. nothing unlucky about it.

The horse didn't jump but does the jockey need to have stiff arms and stiff legs and look like a cow on a trampoline not even trying to steady himself after the bad jump?
Clown performance. No pocket talk here - made £160

That wan’t a normal overreach. A normal over reach is the horse striking into its front front foot usually the bulb of the heel or the back of the pastern. What happened to Jamie’s horse was a freak occurrence and very scary. It could have been a lot worse. The horse could have come down.

I know what lets change the subject. This kind of overreach, as you now know, is incredibly rare. Such that it could not be reasonably envisaged or contrived. If you do not think that that constitutes bad luck then good luck to you.

Nothing unlucky about Gosden u seating Jamie Moore,Any other decent jockey who is 10 lengths clear at the the las hurdle just shortens up and pops the last,A very moderate jockey like Jamie Moore was going a hundred miles an hour at the last and took a very soft unseat no excuses jockeys idiotic fault 100% the owner should never let him ride what looks a very good horse ever again,If the trainer father Gary Moore objects move this potential champion to Henderson,I can see no other fault except the jockey.

Good interveiw with Gary Moore, he blamed his son for not taking it easy and finding a stride to get over the last. So there you are all you horse racing experts out there.

Not really the point is it? Clearly the horse made a mistake which it wouldn’t have if the rider had been more aware and careful. He took a chance he didn’t need to and paid the price. Better jockey - different result.

Only one person to blame for Goshens defeat and that is Jamie Moore why with such a good horse in such a big race do you put at best a very average jockey up on it,Any top jockey knows when you are 10 clear at the last you shorten up and ease him over the last not push the horse travelling at such speed into the hurdle it is just bad and madness,No the only fault is utterly a d 100% with the jockey who is not and never has been good enough,Not savvy enough and just not sensible enough,If I was the owner I would never let Jamie Moore ride this horse again and if father objects to this move the horse to Henderson and Co. Sympathy does not count in big races only good jockeyship.

one thing that is moores fault" i didn't realise how far clear i was" whichever way you look at the fall , not knowing howler clear he is cannot be anyone else fault but his in truth.maybe if he ha taken it steady , even with the horse clipping its ow heels he may have survived , i sure we've seen riders stay aboard after worse blunders. but we can see how it happened and obviously not as bad as it looked at the time.

You have to ask oneself how many outside rides does Moore get? Personally I wouldn't back any of his mounts with counterfeit money. That said I did feel for him and had I backed the beast I would have been cursing at the TV.
Reminds me of Christian Williams.

Makybe_Diva 13 Mar 20 13:48 The horse got his hind hoof caught in the front one for a second or two I think that is why Jamie couldn’t save himself. If it weren’t for that I think Jamie would have stayed aboard.
You are 100% correct.
Some utter ridiculous comments on here. Have any of you seen the slow motion video( from various angles ), of the horse after it had jumped the last hurdle ? It was shown more than once on ITV. It clearly shows that a hind leg hoof was caught in the hoof of a foreleg. This - and this alone, caused the sudden change in the horses motion, enough to cause Jamie to be thrown up and out of the saddle.

He'd ride for about 100 different trainers a season. No-one would suggest he is anywhere near the best jock in NH, or even in Sussex!, BUT some of the stuff on here is in fruitcake territory.

The 'Prosecution' argue that Moore asked a relatively inexperienced horse for a big un when he didn't need to and it went t!ts up.

I'd have to say about 40% jockey error for being too animated right up the straight and particularly at the final flight and 60% just simply freaky bad luck as the horse simply couldn't find a leg because of the horses leg tied up issue. No clear cut blame is attached to anybody or thing, this is horse racing lads..we all know the risks, get over it...(I backed it).

dunlaying - sensible question, that no one has yet asked. He's a biggish boy but nothing is disproportionate. Key here is that "locked" shoes - front rear to rear front is very unusual.

Reminds me of Adrian Maguire and Barton Bank came to the last 15 lengths clear. I'm not sure Adrian was ever the same man after that race. Just hope Jamie can get it out of his head,Ryan makes lot of ****-ups but they are not so obvious. It's only a horse race no one got hurt and hopefully the horse will go on to win lots of races under the same jockey and connections might be able to get some of their money back.

He was the best horse in the race by about a furlong. He was a unfortunate victim of the gambling gods that prevent you from winning. He could have done this and he should have dome that is irrelevant He unseated Jamie but hopefully the horse recovers from the almost freakish incident regarding the clipping and sticking of his own hoof and JM gets his redemption just about anywhere where they want to get it.
Me ??? It would be the Ebor and just hope they dont **** up the watering as by then he will be a mid 100 horse and will destroy them from the front and there will be no hurdle for him to trip over at in the last furlong.
This is a serious racehorse. Hope he stays sound.

Watch the side on slow motion (ITV) , A jump jockeys legs are meant to act as a shock absorber when a horse lands. No problem with Moore's approach to the last and how he presented Goshen at the hurdle, the horse stumbled after the hurdle and Moore's legs remained stiff and straight. He was not relaxed , the adrenalin overtook him, top jocks like russell, johson, de boinville would have been relaxed and just bent there knees and sat back in the saddle..it was avery minor error....The moores ride like flat jockeys, cant think of any of the top 10 NH jockeys who would have unseated there. But spare a thought for poor Jamie, he must be gutted, done everything right before then...hopefully he gets redemption in Champion Hurdle 2021...get yer head up Jamie !

Clearly very unlucky but he was bouncing around in the saddle all the way round, I actually thought he must have a slipped saddle or similar - if it were my horse I’d be sending it to Mullins, Elliot or Henderson pronto.

Feel gutted for connections. Understandable in a highly competitive Grade1 race that Jamie Moore - with only a single Festival win to his name - might not be aware that he had the competition beaten approaching the last. Of course if he had known he would’ve popped the last and the outcome would’ve been very different.
As it is, the horse is clearly very decent and very promising. Hopefully they’ll get plenty of opportunities to aim at big prizes in the future and gain compensation for this particular defeat.

That said, Jamie would do well to heed the advice of the 7lbs claiming female amateur who won the Foxhunter. She had the good sense to look at the big screen to see where her opponents were in relation to her own position.

Whilst I believe some of the criticism is way over the top and there's no doubt the horse was extremely unlucky to lock hooves the fact remains the horse wasn't properly presented at the hurdle. I agree with unclepuncle ;if I owned the horse I'd send it to either one of those trainers or PN. The animal is a real live contender for the Champion Hurdle and needs to be given every chance.

Carson and Walsh made somewhat similar mistakes eg Walsh falling off at the last/Carson caught easing down so it's not Jamie specific. No body died - it will happen again. Get over it, just do not bet more than afford to lose.

To all the people coming on here criticising Jamie Moore:
I hope spewing your vitriol anonymously makes you feel better. It's OK that you demonstrate what a brainless cretin you are, because nobody knows who you are. Jamie Moore gets up every day and does a skilled, dangerous and unpredictable job under open public scrutiny. He is twice the man you will ever be. And he is far too big a person to take any notice of your anonymous hogwash.
Not every person in the public eye is the same. Some people get upset by what is written about them. Some even kill themselves. Do yourelf a favour. Don't leave yourself in a position where you might be lying there after your life has fallen apart wondering whether karma has bitten you on the arse for the harm you have done by talking balls about other people. Think about whether you would say what you are about to type to the person's face, in front of the person whose esteem you care about most in the world. Try to use the time doing something good for someone instead.
NB: This is not directed at anyone whose comment is simply that, in their opinion, Moore made a technical mistake on the horse. There is no reason why, in sensible terms, those who know what they are talking about cannot explain to these people why they have got it wrong, as some on here have tried to do. But attacking ad hominem, and calling the fella all the fecks under the sun is not on.
