Yes but obviously depends on the condition of the card as I know it was a really bad night of the race where a lot of the cards were thrown away bwcause they got soaked but if you know of anyone I'd be really interested

Thanks for the prompt reply. I will make some enquiries and pm you if I can track one down that is available. Forgive me for the blunt message, but I was just checking you knew the absolute minimum you would have to pay. There are reports of fakes about but I have not seen one.  Cheers bb

Resubmitting this post to ask if anyone knows where I could purchase the Frankel debut card. I collect racecards as a hobby and probably like a great many
individuals have 13 out of the 14 racecards in which he ran. I am willing to pay a very good price !!

Several Frankel Racecards on Ebay but couldn't see the debut card you want. The 2,000 Gns racecard is on Ebay for £125. I was there that day when he first ran, had a big tip for Nathaniel who was strongly fancied ! Beaten half a length by Frankel with the pair finishing about 5 or 6 lengths clear of the third. (I do keep some racecards but unfortunately didn't keep that one.)

Current bid is £155 reserve not yet met, still 9 days to go.

Reserves on Ebay ffs.  Why not just avoid wasting people's time and start it with an opening bid at your reserve price?.   Unless of course you are trying the tactic of setting the reserve at a silly price in the forlorn hope of finding out what someone might have paid had you not set a silly reserve.

My better half has all 14 racecards plus everything you can think of about the wonder horse the original card is worth at least 600 pounds good luck in your quest

Stocks - This particular programme IS rare. See below. But a "written in" one with creases and bends won't make £600 all the time you have a whatever in your wherever.

Anyway, condition is huge in this market. For those who obviously don't know and/or hav'nt bothered to read the thread, this racecard is desirable for TWO reasons - one the obvious one, but secondly and almost equally importantly, it pissed down, crowds were down, cards got wet and damaged. They are rare in top condition. As many on here know I am in this market. I paid £550 notes for the last good one I bought, and sold it for £650 two+ years ago. I have not seen a good one since.

the last two copies on ebay both looked good. both sold for 695, one of them was signed by queally. very unlikely to be worth much in 30 to 40 hears. how much would anyone pay for the card of sea birds first run? and that will be 100x rarer than this card. gl though, if you collect what you like, then its worth it to you.

Charlton - Looked good!! The Queally one had Tommo's comments and sig plastered all over the front.  I dipped out at £200.

Yes I did PM you after your reply to my original post as you said you would make enquiries but I assume you came up with a blank ?

Bidding at £250 now AND RESERVE IS MET. 5 individual bidders, 12 actual bids + 10 Proxy/Auto bids.

The clever angle might be to try and find Westlife fans via their fansites.  Some may have kept the card ( hopefully by mistake ! )

I've also got the full set of Dancing Brave racecards and paid less than £200 for the set....I wouldn't contemplate selling my 13 Frankel racecards....and I certainly would'nt pay the asking price of 5.7k that thetreasuredomes are asking for both sets of these legendary horses. My Frankel cards are all MINT and I've spent less than £300 on the lot so I think I've done quite well. I will get the Debut card in the end :)

So the card went for 920 quid and I was outbid yet again !...I am sure it is the same bloke that has won the last 3 'Debut' cards on EBay as the winning bidder had the same feedback score so bit of a coincidence. Still if he wants to have a viable collection he must have or will need the other 13 cards and some of the others are hard to find also. Still onwards and upwards. To Dare is To Do ;)

Pheebs - £920 is way over. but your problem is that there are, or were, 2 people prepared to bid £900 for one.  I'd wait till the bubble bursts.  Good luck

Sea-Bird is not Frankel.  I think now and in 50 years the latter will be much better regarded by MOST looking back.

I have Sea Bird's Derby and Arc racecards and 16 of Brigadier Gerard's 18 racecards, signed by Joe Mercer.  And a good friend of mine has a full set of Brigadier Gerard's racecards.

I wouldn't have a clue as to the value of horse racing memorabilia, but i would have thought both BG sets of racecards would be worth a few bob, more so with Joes' signature, although i appreciate you don't have any intention to sell of course (or you friend).

That is correct Andrew. I will be leaving all of my memorabilia to the children. I have two sets of shoes and lots of other things but they are not for sale. My friend lent his full set of racecards to be displayed in the National horseracing museum. He also recently acquired the set of BG's silks Joe wore, displayed in a large silver covered frame with the signatures of owner, trainer and jockey plus all of his wins engraved on it. It was given by his owners as a prize to be sold at the stable lads boxing finals at the Hilton Hotel in 1972. It is a fantastic item.
