Just to educate you on the rules. Carson's horse drifted right, he had his whip in the wrong hand and continued to hit his horse doing nothing to correct his horse and carrying the runner-up further right off a true line. The horse got beat an inch and therefore the stewards had no option . Correct to amend the result. If Carson had changed his whip to his right hand he would have kept the race, jockey to blame.

how does the jockey know if his horse is driting off a straight line? another horse may have come on his inside and he could interfere with that by switching his whip,they cant always look round

in this case when he gets further and further away from the rails. had he put his stick down even though the horse was still drifting he might have kept it. it was a close photo so that distance you are showing is wrong
