Been gambling for three plus decades and generally do fairly well with ups and down but overall good mainly on the horses. Remember the good old days as a greyhound owner up and down the Northern tracks since my teenage years when you could have a good old gamble. Always been into horses (Dancing Brave winning the Arc won me a fortune) I stick to the horses, it is harder nowadays due to the number of meeting so a change in strategy has taken place.
I have come to the conclusion that Andy Holding speaks a lot of sense (FLAT RACING) and the simple fact is that bookmakers do not price horses up on their actual speed given a clear run. This makes a lot of sense and his selections are very consistent which I have had a few three figure wins at between 10s - 14s which I consider decent. I'm looking to subscribe and if I see his sense in a selection I would up the stakes with the view to winning four figures or even five.
Remember, I am not looking to back every every selection daily but I do know a fair nit myself and I do have close contacts in some Northern yards with good information. I am simply looking to include Andy Holding Speed Figures in my existing profitable betting system.
Now, may I ask if anyone has any opinion on this matter.....any subscribers, bad experiences, good experiences........basically I would like to hear opinions first hand please?
PS: I do not know if asking for genuine opinions are allowed here because although a member for years....I simply do not post that much BUT I know I might get knocked saying I am just spamming and all that nonsense. I am not.
In advance to other potential posters and also betfair....I am not a spammer but simply a life long gambler who knows a fair amount but want some opinions from likewise individuals without the abuse and sarcasm please.
First of I think Holding is one of the best tipsters out there As such a couple of years ago I subscribed to his speedfigures, it was for a period that included Cheltenham. Although interesting I didn't think the figures helped me much. I thought the site needed a bit more daily insight from Andy himself even if it was only on a couple of races or best bet, then again I suppose that his best bets are available on other sites .I'm not sure if the site has changed as this was a couple of years ago and I see he now does something about gold, silver and bronze bets. The thing is if a horse is top rated but is having its first race of the season or its figure is on different going what do you do, it still comes down to your own choice/interpretation.
I like following the aw racing and with sectionals now available at some of the tracks it would be easy enough to do your own figures, must admit though I'm too idle. Guess you are more jumps orientated though
If I were you I'd give it a 3 months trial and see how you go, nothing ventured they say.
Lets face it there's no Holy Grail to picking winners, well if there is I haven't found it!
good luck whatever you do
Over the years though I find it best to stick to my own methods, no one else to blame then

Thanks for the replies everyone who actually commented on topic.
To all the other who did not.....thanks for redirecting my serious post to the usual nonsense which never changes hence the reason for being a long term member who rarely posts because of this nonsense.
Nevermind.

You won't get much sense on here now buddy. I just read this from your original post, the simple fact is that bookmakers do not price horses up on their actual speed given a clear run, All i would say to that is, in how many horse races with a decent field do horses actually get a clear run? Unless they go from the front, which possibly is something to look into, ie) Horse with best speed figures that is also a front runner. I'd just add that backing other peoples selections which may have a good number of subscribers will generally mean you are taking under the true odds.

I read AHs analysis. If i can see the logic then i consider a bet. Prices tend to hold up better than hughs but he has developed quite a large following. As i indicted i am more interested in his analysis than any die hard speed figures especially on NH racing as the ground often gets progressive worse going through the card and comparisons become difficult however overall i consider him to be a good judge.

Having read your post again I see you might be more interested in the flat or the aw racing. One of the things I noted was that Andy often quotes that a horses finishing kick ,from wherever he times them , was/is very good but these times were not in the figures that you purchase. He readily admits that he is useless at Newcastle yet on a straight track you would think that figures would hold up, so if you are looking for guidance there I'd avoid. I suppose though at least he's honest about his short comings.
I have found him to be very good at Dundalk and think he has stated that he enjoys Southwell but I avoid there like the plague so have no opinion on it.
As a former greyhound man myself I get by by studying the replays for races at Lingfield, Wolves and Chelmsford and look for horses that get runs/ don't get runs/ similar to how you'd pick a greyhound in a graded race.
I go through every horse in every race, it becomes easier when you get the same horses running and there are only the 3 tracks you don't get burn out from the form study.
I must add though I don't always win but at least I feel like I've got half a chance and enjoy the racing a lot more. If you had told me 10 years ago I would be following the aw I'd have laughed at you.

Never understood this. Surely, and I say this respectfully, the obvious problem with relying upon anybody else - or any 'system' - is when they or it suddenly become unavailable? What then? There is only one person we should aim to rely upon - ourself.
